If youre looking for proper vietnamese dishes please skip saigon altogether.
I was actually really disappointed with the food. Not because it tasted bad or anything but just because it wasn't proper vietnamese food.
I understand that they probably modify the vietnamese dishes so that they appeal more the local palate but if that's the case they should market their food as vietnamese fusion.
I ordered their rice vermicelli lemongrass chicken, vegetable spring rolls, ice coffee , and flan for dessert.
When the food arrived I already knew i wasn't gonna like it as much because the spring rolls were made using pastry rolls and instead of rice paper which wasn't what I expect or wanted if i were to order vietnamese spring rolls. As a result the spring rolls tasted like all the other local popiahs. Not vietnamese.
Also the veggies in the veggie spring rolls tasted weird i couldnt eat it.
Same fate with the rice vermicelli and the sauce for the dish was underwhelming.
The main reason I went to super saigon is for the vietnamese crepe that they promoted just weeks ago. We barely have any halal vietnamese restaurants, let alone one that serves vietnamese egg crepe pancakes so when I saw Saigon putting it in their menu i was excited. Finally!
But when I went today and asked the staff about the vietnamese crepe, the staff seemed lost and didn't know whether it was out of stock or it was no longer promoted. I understand if the crepe was a seasonal thing but atleast inform or let ur customers know about it on social media.
The flan tho. Atleast the flan was good. Thank goodness.
Again Id like to reiterate the food wasnt bad. It tasted okay. It just wasnt exactly vietnamese and it annoyed me a bit because there isnt a lot of halal options out there and I was hoping Saigon would be good enough.
Lastly, I think its important that I put it here that my opinion on the food does not in anyway reflect the staff or the food being served. The staff and food were okay technically. This is a review of Saigon in general like if anyone from HQ sees this, maybe just sell things saigon is already good at? Like pho and coffee? The rest are just abysmal...
Read moreAfter a solid workout, I usually crave something hearty and fulfilling, which is why the Saigon Beef Don has become my go-to order. This dish never disappoints. The beef is tender and flavorful, perfectly seasoned with a mix of savory and slightly sweet notes. The rice is light but hearty, comes with sliced onions and chili padi while the poached egg adds a rich, creamy texture that takes the dish to the next level. Every bite is a comforting blend of flavors that keeps me coming back for more.
For the first time, I also tried the Den Dam Coconut Coffee, and it was a delightful surprise. The coconut milk adds a smooth sweetness that balances the strong coffee perfectly. It’s rich and energizing, making it an excellent post-workout pick-me-up.
A special mention to Izz, the staff member who greeted me with a friendly “hi” and made sure to check in on how the food was. It’s always great to experience such thoughtful service.
Overall, the food was as satisfying as always, and the service made it even better. I’m definitely sticking to this order for my...
Read moreOne of the staffs, an older Malay lady in black shirt and tudung, was extremely rude. We were a group of five, but two of us hadn’t arrived when she came and took the menu from us. We were okay with that, but then she SNATCHED the menu away from my mom, even though my mom was still looking at it. My mom asked to keep at least one menu book since my siblings (who hadn’t arrived yet) had never been to Super Saigon, and it would be easier for them to see the food in the menu. However, the staff insisted we could order and view everything through the QR code.
She had the audacity to start clearing our table while one of us was still eating, clearly wanting us to leave sooner. We initially assumed she was the supervisor because she wore a different color from other staffs and acted all superior, but it turned out she wasn’t.
We were so pissed off, but fortunately, the actual supervisor approached us, asked if there was an issue, and acknowledged our complaint. The stars are for the food and her prompt...
