So after reading so many good reviews on this restaurant me and my husband have decided to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at this 'much recommended' restaurant...... We arrived and chose to have Set Menu B. After we have place our order, they served us some prawn crackers with four 'sauces' in which i'm not sure what they were since they were surely added with water (you may see photos attached) and so bland. Also two of them had only a teaspoon of serving!! barely covering the base of the serving bowl. The serving plates..one of it came chipped, not very hygienic. After almost an hour had passed, the waiter came serving us with the main courses!! We had to remind him that we still weren't served with the starters yet, in which he apologized and took them away. We had to keep on waiting further more for our starters which consisted of crispy wontons, spring rolls, satay chicken, satay beef, spare ribs and some seaweed...all too bland and no flavour at all. After a while, finally our main course arrived...... chicken with cashew nuts..... white as bones.....we haven't even dared to try it. Boiled chicken pieces, clearly most not even cooked well. (you may see photos attached) Obviously we did not eat any of it, as we could easily end to Hospital, only the cashew nuts were edible. The beef in oyster sauce.... bland and full of fat. Egg fried rice, in which consisted only of boiled rice, peas and some egg pieces. not even some spring onions for taste! Noodles with shredded pork...i won't discuss the pork since very little was present but the 'noodles' were vermicelli with bovril taste! The sweet and sour pork.... we didn't have the guts to even try it out. We haven't eaten barely anything and we really hoped that the dessert were better than the food we have been served till now. My husband had opted for melon sorbet, which basically was only ice with some orange colour, not any hint of melon flavour at all. I have opted for the chocolate pudding, in which it came already oozing the melted chocolate, not even the scoop ice cream had any taste. We clearly wasted our time and money and totally ruined our Anniversary. So disappointed in everything, Whoever says that this restaurant serves 'good' food and bla bla bla clearly does not have any idea of chinese food. Please note that we have taken the meat take away to at least feed a small colony of stray cats in the area.... and they didn't even touched it!!! Please avoid this restaurant at all cost, don't waste any money for bland tasteless low quality food.
Reply to the management:
Please note that we only ate the starters and very few of the mains, you could clearly see that we left everything there. The only food we opted to take out was to give them out to the local stray cats, in which even they didn't bother to eat. We did not want to complain there since we know the usual routine that that's the way the food should be cooked etc. So it was to no avail. It's your duty to see that the food you prepare to customers should be of a decent quality and especially not undercooked. I can't understand if we were the unlucky ones that got that food or if others just eats everything that is put on...

My family and I visited the Oriental Garden on the 2nd of November; We'd had overheard someone in the park say it was the best Chinese restaurant in Marsacala.
So we decided to arrive at 18:30 (its opening times) and have our family dinner there, when we arrived, there were already punters at tables (a good sign).
We were placed at the front of the restaurant and given some menus to look at; the children had already eaten, so only the adults were ordering and the kids would be allowed to pick.
The speed of service was slow, we were waiting so long, that my wife had to go and ask to be served (there weren't that busy). So we ordered our starters, our mains and our drinks.
The starter arrived in reasonable time, a platter; the food was ordinary at best, the quality of meat was poor. The chicken Satay had no Satay on it and the other meat on a stick tasted weird. The spare ribs were cold.
The children not liking any of the food and getting impatient with the slow service, started to mess around and become a distraction to other clienteles at the restaurant, so we decided to ask for our mains to be take away.
We had been in the restaurant 1 hour at this time.
After we got home and put our children to bed, my wife and I sat down expecting to eat a lovely Chinese. To say it was one of the worst Chinese meals I have every had was an understatement. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and special fried rice (food I could / should have shared with my children).
The sweet and sour chicken was in some glop, the quality of the chicken left me questioning whether it was chicken or not. The biggest disappointment was the special fried rice, it was bland, the meat/veg/prawns (added) were like rubber. This is Marsasacala, I would expect good quality prawns in my food, but these had obviously come from a frozen food supplier. I was not impressed, I won't even go into what I thought of my wifes food.
I thought that was the end of my disappointment, but no!
This morning I woke up in pain, in my stomach and rushed to the bathroom, where I spent the next hour talking to the toilet as all the food I ate the night before want to leave me faster than a rocket ship.
So here I am sitting in bed writing a review for the 1st time in a long time, as I could not let this experience happen to anyone else, in particular a tourist who might take this memory back about the lovely village I live in.
On Monday, I will be talking to the persons who said this was a lovely restaurant and everyone else when I take my daughter to school to let everyone know of my disappointment at what looks like a wonderful restaurant, but turns out not to be.
On one positive note, my...
Read moreI wanted to express my gratitude to Oriental Garden and the management team, especially Jurgen and his staff, for hosting my son's first birthday party. The restaurant provided a perfect setting for over 70 of our guests, and Jurgen went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Our guests were truly impressed by the beautiful ambiance of the place, and let's not forget the food! It was simply exceptional, from the mouthwatering appetizers to the delectable main courses and desserts. The portions were so generous that even the appetizers felt like full meals. What amazed us all was that more delicious dishes kept coming, and our guests couldn't believe they were still just appetizers. The staff were not only accommodating but also incredibly friendly, making everyone feel welcome. They even allowed us to set up a lovely cake table, which added to the overall experience. Thanks to Oriental Garden, our guests had an unforgettable time, leaving with their hearts full and their stomachs even fuller. Thank you once again Jurgen & Oriental...
