i Browsed the Internet and found the Wapalapam restaurantant. i was so looking forward to visit with my fiance. when we arrived there, we found the service very poor as the waiter pointed to two tables for us to choose.we sat down, waited and watched other tables being served. only when we went to call the waiter ourself,he came after a while. he seemed to be in a hurry when we asked him some questions. i asked for recommendations for vegetarian options and i was told two dishes from the menu ,one of which was not available. that seemed to be my one and only choice. when the food came , i was served in a bowl and there was no plate to eat with . the Restaurant was empty and i tried to grab their attention by calling them but they were way too busy with their conversations . finally someone came and we asked for a plate and if there was any rice to go with the food we ordered . we also requested for some famous mauritian chilli Paste which arrived after we finished our meal. food was nice, but the whole service was bad. later when we saw another new waiter, we told him we are ready to order desert ,he said to wait. And we waited ,what else ! he arrived only 15 minutes later and asked if we are ready to order. i told him we are ready to order since a long time and he didnt appear to be happy when i told him that. i told him that we have been ignored the whole time while they were only nice with other customers on other table.he claimed that he just arrived on duty and he left. the new waiter brought my desert ,then came the other waiter to ask if we wanted a desert . i mean honestly how long does it take to take a desert order. i was really disapointed with the service, but happy that at least the food came out good. food was simple...
Read moreThis restaurant is sublime. We discovered it on the second evening of our holiday and have eaten here every night since. I can’t remember any restaurant that has inspired such easy loyalty from us before.
The food is a glorious fusion of Mauritian/Creole and the flavours are heavenly. Every dish we’ve had is fresh, bursting with flavour and I’ve gone so far as to request and acquire recipes for many of the dishes. We have particularly enjoyed the chicken curry, fish in banana leaves, black pepper beef, tuna, fish curry and chicken wings. If only we had longer than our 10 day trip to try more dishes. The prices are also incredibly reasonable and the portions are enormous! All my main courses did me for lunch the next day as well, as the staff were happy to give me a takeout box to carry back to the hotel. My husband thought the portions just perfect for his hearty appetite.
The staff are the other real gem here. They have treated us with so much kindness and we shall miss them all. They are incredibly friendly, efficient and make a mean Mojito too! The restaurant is perfectly suited to an evening out for casual dining, special occasions, family meals, romantic dinners…it accommodates all beautifully. The eclectic objects scattered round the walls obviously have many stories to tell. We loved the surf boards hung above the bar and the huge piece of wood, possibly from a ship(?) suspended from the ceiling. We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary here and when we return to Mauritius one day it will be our restaurant of choice once again.

Read moreExperience No1 - Ordered take away at Wapalapam curepipe, and when arriving at restaurant, the staff over there was not welcoming and seemed to be bothered that we were there (note the restaurant was not full yet). I called back on the number which is centralised to their restaurant in Le Morne and when the lady checked, the staff in curepipe didnt watch the system as order was on system correctly. So had to wait additional time to get the food. By chance the food was good.
Experience No.2 - Decided to go on a road trip woth the family and called to book for lunch. They advised that they dont take bookings and its first come first serve. Tried to get the booking confied as we were travelling with 3 children less than 4yrs but still they were not linient. Anyways we did the trip and when we arrived it was fully booked. However we noticed that there were two tables of 4pax free (we were total 7 adults & 3kids) and informed the staff we didnt mind to have 2 seperated table as long as we can eat. They advised that unfortunately they couldnt give us the table as even people which were suited didnt get their food yet and if we get seated it will take around 1hr to get our food. What anoys me was the way the lady talked to us as it was as if we were annoying her to come and eat at her restaurant. Really poor customer service and bad image.
Even though my first experience was a good one and because the food was good, i was willing to give a try. However with the way we were being treated i will not ever go to any of there restaurants again even the...
