TERRIBLE SERVICE & RACISM

We(family of 3, brown race) entered the restaurant at around 8:15 pm and we were greeted very properly by a Nigerian waitress(unfortunately did not note her name down), who asked us which table we would like to sit on.

She proposed the one which was right in front of the kitchen door, and so we said yes, since other good tables were not free.

As soon as she started setting up the table, we saw another table freed up, more near the entrance, with fresh air. As we are vegetarian, we dont like the smell of food coming out of the kitchen, in our faces as we are eating.

So we asked the male waitress there, if we could swap that table for this one, and he immediately told us all the tables are reserved, we are fully booked.

The restaurant was half empty!!

We then told him, that the waitress said we could have the table, we just wanted the better table.

The waiter went to the manager at the reception, and the manager called the Nigerian waitress and started screaming at her and pointing fingers in front of the whole restaurant. Embarrassing the waitress.

The waitress then came back and said we will serve you exceptionally, but we could see she almost teared up after the way that manager talked to her.

We sat down on the good table for few mins, and saw the entire staff staring at us....like we committed some crime.

A European couple came through, and they were given excellent service, and a table they liked immediately. The manager was treating them so well, and us differently.

As soon as we saw that we left immediately!!

We went to the Aqua Farina in Mont Roches, Rose Hill, and the service and food was so much better.

WILL NEVER GO AGAIN TO THIS RESTAURANT!

However, do go to their branch in Mont Roches, you will leave their satisfied, as the owners are there :) and are very kind and...

Tonight I had a bad experience with racism in the restaurant Acqua & Farina in Telfair. My husband is Caucasian and I’m Asian. We ordered a pizza for takeaway. I made the order. When my husband picked up the order, the person who took it asked him if the order had been made by a Chinese. Why couldn’t he had just said “Asian”, instead of “Chinese” ? We’re deeply shocked by the racism of this restaurant, the discriminatory, racist, and xenophobic experience that people of Asian ethnicity may have there, and the disrespect of the waiters referring to people by their ethnicity, especially in a so-called “multicultural” island. Wouldn’t it be racist if I said something along the lines of “I hope the restaurant corrects the behavior of the Indian I made the order with.” ? If you’re Asian, and are against racism, I strongly advise against eating at...

We went out for dinner, and I ordered carbonara. Toward the end of the meal, I noticed a mosquito on my plate. I mentioned it to the waiter, but I wasn’t expecting a replacement dish since I was already quite full. However, my appetite was spoiled after that. After waiting for about 15 minutes, our pizza finally arrived, but the waiter didn’t follow up with us. I spoke to another waiter, but the situation didn’t improve. When we went to pay, the cashier said, "We can’t do anything for you because the chefs claim there are no mosquitoes in the kitchen, and it must have happened outside the kitchen." We weren’t expecting a refund or discount, but at the very least, an apology would’ve been nice. They were just too prideful to...
