I recently discovered Mariscos El Cone in La Ventana, a charming neighborhood of La Paz, and I can't recommend it enough! Located just off the main strip, it's easily visible from the road as you head towards El Sargento.
The menu is simple yet satisfying, and while I couldn't get a whole fish, the fish fillet I ordered exceeded my expectations. It was perfectly cooked and came with slices of peppers that added a nice touch without being overwhelmingly spicy – I simply moved them aside to enjoy the fish. The garlic aroma wafting from the kitchen made the wait feel worthwhile, and you can tell that each dish is made to order.
They also offer refreshing lemonade beer and a selection of liquors, which is a nice bonus. My friend opted for the sautéed vegetables, and they kindly added queso fresco on the side upon request.
Overall, Mariscos El Cone has earned a spot on my list of must-visit places in town. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out...
Read moreEl Cone is our go-to weeknight spot. Prices are reasonable and quality is consistent. Service is friendly and prompt as well. The fish tacos are an incredible value (3x$115) and come with a small side of tasty guac and mixed greens.
The unexpected hit here are the pastas--creamy, delicious and filling. We also tried the papa rellena al diabla recently and it was a massive serving for one and easily sufficient for two to fill up on. Their coconut shrimp is also on point and served with a tasty sweet coconut cream sauce.
The large margaritas are fish bowl sized and do the trick. The mojitos are pretty mids, stick to the margs.
My only real complaint is they use canned mushrooms and like to put them in everything. I love mushrooms and even it's too much for me. Please consider using real mushrooms and I'd have nothing negative to say. Or at the very least make it more clear which dishes have mushrooms so I know to order...
Read moreRegrettably, Mariscos en Cone in La Ventana, BCS, presents a dining ordeal most disheartening, evoking a sense of profound exploitation. One anticipated the diablo fish plate to offer a robust piquancy, only to encounter a dish so bereft of flavor it might lull the most discerning palate to slumber. The habanero sauce, touted as a fiery essence, emerges as a pallid mockery, incapable of stirring even the drowsiest taste bud. Furthermore, the price of a single fish taco at 125 pesos exemplifies an outrageous overvaluation permeating the entire menu, whilst service proceeds with agonizing lethargy. One feels grievously ill-used; thus, preserve thy wealth and gastronomic honor, import thine own seasonings, and shun this...
