Los Portales de García — Restaurant in Baja California

If you're going for the views then yes it is an undeniably beautiful picturesque place and that is all that they offer. The food was overpriced, tasteless, and portion size was ridiculous. Our party was quite large and over half got sick. Two were nauseous the rest of the night and three others ended up with diarrhea. Parking was $5 dlls or $100 pesos per car, dirt parking lot not a lot of space.

Appetizers: The guacamole was plain simply smashed avocado no salt, seasoning tomato onion Cilantro...... Nothing. It was served with a few pieces of pork rinds and fresh cheese. Camarones cucaracha were good I do recommend these they were the only good flavor they had, besides the kids Quesadilla...... but then again how do you mess up a flour tortilla with melted cheese.

Entrees: The lobster tail was about three inches and extremely thin I would go as far to say it was approximately perhaps 2 ounces if that was what we removed. The Braised ribs were soft no salt no flavor and the sides were about 1½ to MAYBE 2 ounces in size. Chamorro en Adobo was very soft but again no flavor the meat was tasteless no seasoning and the adobo was just blended chile pods no flavor, and again the "sides" looked more like Garnishes than a side. Pulpo a las brasas was cold under cooked and ........ yes of course, flavorless. NY steak was tough and on the fatty side with no flavor. The only thing you could taste on the steamed veggies was butter. The canned coke was good. They also brought Beef bone marrow which first of all was not ordered when the waiter was notified of the mistake he was very adamant it could not be removed from the table because he had already served it. It was requested repeatedly to be removed and he refused at which time he stated it would not be removed from the check either. So we tasted it to see if it was edible, like everything else there was no flavor. Approximately 20 minutes later he came and said oh well now you already touched it there's nothing to be done you will for sure have to be charged for it, at this time we asked for them to remove it and dispose of it if necessary even if we had to pay for it $550 pesos approximately $34 dlls!!

Mixed Drinks: These were actually good and the only negative thing I can say is that one of the drinks rim was over salted. They were aesthetically pleasing and were very ok nothing amazingly special about them.

I am no food connoisseur by ANY means whatsoever but good food is good food and that was not it!! -10/10 do...

I’ve been to Los Portales Twice now. The place is absolutely beautiful. The first time I went, was on 8/31/24, for a bachelor party. They take no reservations and the wait was over 1.5 hours. They have two bars outside serving up cocktails while you wait to be seated. We opted to sit at their rooftop bar at the tower across the way from the restaurant (spent $300 there, it was 6 of us). Should have just stayed there. The wait staff was awesome, the music was great and the pizzas were above board along with the drinks. Great vibe. When we were called to be seated is when it went down hill. We were seated, the waiter said he’d bring us water. We waited 15 min for the water. When he brought the water, I figured I’d order my food so not to wait another 15 min. So, I ordered a steak (medium) with mashed potatoes and season vegetables. The steak was extremely over cooked and the potatoes appeared to have been scooped from the fridge. I had the waiter put his finger in the potatoes and even he was surprised. I completely understand that places get busy, things get overlooked and so on. I usually don’t write bad reviews either. But once I paid our tab ($400), I asked to speak to the manager just to give him a heads up on our experience. He completely blew me off. The head waiter told me that they hear this complaint often. I feel like if the manager doesn’t give face and resolve issues, it’ll just get worse.

The second time I visited their establishment, trying for a second chance at this spot, I waited for a table near the ocean on the first floor. It was a repeat of my first experience. Waited a while for water.. waited to order.. we finally all agreed to just have drinks and appetizers. The guacamole was bland, no salt, no lime. The drinks were superb, and the live band really made the vibe special. If you want to have exceptional drinks at a kick ass spot, this is your place. I also don’t eat seafood, so this might be to eat seafood and not a steak in all fairness.

This was my experience, and I don’t know if anyone has experienced it before… In order to eat it took 4 HOURS!!! We got there at 6:20p.m. and didn’t start eating until 10p.m. We waited 2 HOURS just to be called inside..! I understand that the place is very beautiful, has a very great atmosphere, great music in live and shows, but the time was a big NO for me, especially when they told us that we were going to be seated in one hour. Like I said before I don’t know if we came in a very busy day, but me personally I didn’t like that we had to wait 2 hours. When they call us in, they sat us in the table, gave us the menu and didn’t come back for about almost 40 minutes just to take our drinks down😶 at this point our family was already annoyed, hungry and frustrated that we decided to also give them our food choices. They give us our drinks 10 minutes later but they didn’t started bringing the food until 30 minutes after (just a few dishes) they still took other 20 minutes to bring the last dish to us claiming that this was very hard to cook, as a courtesy they give us a extra free drink, but to be honest we tired of waiting so long that we didn’t enjoy the drink🫠

The food was good, but could be better especially with such high-rating restaurant. The price was too expensive for the amount of food that we were given.

The atmosphere was great..! such a beautiful place and beautiful view🥰😍 I loved that they put music outside for the ones that were waiting. They also have a little bar stand outside the place which is nice. Would I ever come back? Probably, I want to see if this wait was only a very busy day or a daily thing. I come from Phoenix Az and I don’t know if I’ll come back anytime soon so I’ll be looking...
