I went there on the Sunday before Memorial Day for a quick meal and to see their new place, as I had not seen it yet: when I got there in the late-afternoon the place was packed and parking was scarce but the attendants on hand were very accommodating after I informed them that I was only there for a quick bite, they then found a space for me to park: I might add that if parking is scarce you have the option of leaving your keys with the attendants and they will handle it. Once inside I noted that this place was busier than a bee hive; as I looked around I noted people seated everywhere on the main level. A waitor spotted me and asked could he be of service , I then replied yes and stated that I was a party of one and wanted to eat upstairs on the balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He said no problem and pointed the way up the stairs where the walls were decorated with various paintings of sea-life and other media. When I arrived upstairs there was a live band with a female vocalist singing ballads in english of classic oldies. I had no trouble finding a seat outside on the balcony overlooking the Pacific ocean facing south I eyed the crowd and noticed couples, families engaged in social interaction; the ambience and atmosphere was electric with good vibes. But this area was so busy the waitors seemed slightly overwhelmed, so after about ten minutes of observing this I decided to become proactive in the hopes that I would be served a little quicker by going into the bar area adjacent to the patio where the band was playing and speak with one of the waitors personally as he was processing orders and checks: he got it and stated he was on it. I ordered two beef tacos with a coke, within ten minutes my order was on the table in front of me hot and ready complete with fried rice, refried beans and nachos with a mild picante sauce. The tacos were made of shredded beef and had a combination of lettuce, cabbage, shredded cheese and diced tomatoes all decorated nicely. I tried the rice first and then the beans and was very impressed. I think the nachos might have been better with guacamole which I did not order although I'm sure it's available probably for an additional charge; I don't know because I didn't look at the menu since I knew what I wanted at the time. The tacos were slightly above average but good nonetheless, I washed it down with my coke as I listened to the band and enjoyed the surroundings; why heck I even spotted two dolphins swimming in sync northwesterly into the sunset until they were out of sight. Overall a worthwhile experience that I'll probably due again even if it's busy. I'm sure they have more than a reasonable selection of food to eat and enjoy. I'll check the menu out next time especially if I have a hankering...
Read moreThis place never ceases to amaze me. From the days of its simple big green box-looking restaurant, that sits comfortably on a cliff with ocean splashing on its window panes, to its now newly built extended areas. Looking forward to what’s in store for us. Splash is a must- see. And, whether indoor our outdoor seating, there will always be room for fresh air, an ocean view, waves breaking, and breath taking sunsets. Simply amazing.
This restaurant, located on the outskirts of Rosarito, Mexico, has been my favorite place for all my seafood needs. Although not exactly a lobster fan, Splash definitely made sure friends, family and myself kept us coming back. It was a place to rave about. Before COVID “era,” $20 lobsters was the thing. Prices were reasonable and honestly, one lobster was not enough.
Last week (Tuesday), my partner and I decided to have early dinner at Splash. As always, friendly staff, good music, great outdoor view, and lots of new additional stuff was done to the restaurant since last visit this past summer. Overall, the atmosphere was on point…even without the live band playing.
Our order was placed (forgot our servers name), we received our drinks and dish in no time. Our food arrived, all looked great but for some unknown reason, my mix ceviche lacked the usual taste. Besides it being tasteless, it was served on the skimpy side and not enough shrimp. I had to squeeze more lemon and salt to add zest. I rarely like using salt, but in this case, it was much needed, unfortunately. The lobster, similar issue. Something was lacking. The garlic butter sauce was much needed but still, it did not have the usual taste. We asked the server about the cook. That maybe the cook was new. He confirmed - it’s the same cook.
The food was definitely off. Unexplainably off.
Our server, by the way, was so attentive and friendly. No complaints here. Even past servers were all good. Dining experiences at Splash were always good.
Despite our dismay with our food, we will still return to Splash. It will still be our go-to for any occasion, or, simply, just because.

Read moreI ate here on 9/24/2021 with my wife for brunch. And again on 9/25/2021 with my wife, brother in law and sister in law for dinner. For brunch, my wife and I were in the original building, upstairs on the balcony. The view was great. The service was very personable. The food was excellent. They had menus in English and Spanish. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and my wife had the Shrimp azul. Both meals were delicious! The coffee was really good too. The next day for dinner we were on the newer outside patio. The patio looked great. The view was beautiful. The ambiance was perfect. Service was very slow. It seemed like we had different servers coming to our table. It was hard to determine who our server was. We had to ask several times for someone to lite the little fire next to our table. It was chilly outside. It wasn't until we were almost ready to pay the bill almost 2 hours later that they finally lit the fire. The table behind us tried to lite the fire on their own because none of the staff would lite it after several requests from multiple tables. The mixed drinks were good. The onion rings were good. The food for dinner was not that good. My Ribeye steak was flavorless and very hard to cut, especially with the butter knife they provided. My Ribeye was not cooked to order either. My wife didn't enjoy her seafood platter. So I arrived at 4 stars based on 5 stars for brunch and 3 stars for dinner. They had a live band that played America light rock. They sounded good but didn't really play dancing music. If we go back, it will be for breakfast or only for drinks and the...
