Overall: food lovely, service sweet, price is cheaper than anything on the touristic Real de Guadalupe.
La Cocina is an intimate setting for a fine lunch. It’s very clean with gleaming white walls, and has a freshness about it.
The young owner greeted us herself, and the staff was friendly (and maybe a little shy). We were brought a lovely potato soup to start, while we still deciding what to order.
One of us ordered the chicken skewers, which came with sweet peppers and onions on two sticks. It had a sauce that reminded me a little of sweet-and-sour sauce, but it wasn’t overwhelming.
The other got the carrot croquettes, which were the stars of the show! Sweet from the carrot, and seasoned in a subtle manner, perhaps a bit more middle eastern than Mexican. The croquettes were grilled so that the the outsides were just crispy enough to resist melting in the sauce that covered it, so the whole dish held together nicely.
The habañero salsa was HOT! But delicious if you like that sort of thing.
