One of the best experiences while my visit to San Cristobal de las Casas. The experience of create my own chocolate bar was incredible, for $300 pesos you have the opportunity to create your own bar and they explain you all the process and everything about cacao. Our experience was incredible, the guy who was our teacher he answer all our questions, he explained us everything from the cacao process to the chocolate creation, they’re super prepared about the topic and if you have the time is an amazing class!!! So worthy!!!! They’re cacao it’s amazing also, súper top quality!! Before they were closer to the center and soon they told us they’re going to change one block but not far at all and it’s a good activity and the museum it’s cool also.

What an awesome experience! The staff are so friendly and informed. It is a guided tour ($50 per person )through their displays, which lasts about 30 mins, and includes two rooms. The tour guide answered our questions and explained the relevance of cocoa in the Mayan and Spanish eras, as well as the process of making chocolate. Then you get to taste both chocolate drink and a huge range of chocolate bars, including rosemary chocolate, banana chocolate and lemon grass chocolate. The service was fantastic, and the place is such a quaint little spot. They also have a cafe service, offering cold and hot drinks.

We had a wonderful experience with Kakaw! The 2 hour bean to bar workshop was so fun, informative and delicious! Our guide, Mayari had so much information to share, including her personal history with cacao (which was a lovely touch). We got to take away certificates and the chocolate bars we made as a souvenir. After the workshop, we tried the Pre-Hispanic Sensations tasting plate for different ancestral flavours - highly recommended! Thank you so much Mayari and Kakaw for this unique and special experience ☺️

It is open and located within the Jade museum! 1000% worth it!! Sign up for the workshop where you will learn all about the history of chocolate. You will roast, peel, and grind your own beans to make your very own chocolate bars!! It's been one of the highlights of our trip and my kids loved the hands on experience of making our own bars. I can't recommend this enough!! Thank you chef Joel for making this a fantastic memory for our family!

The best hot chocolate/cocoa/cacao we ever tasted. Period. If you must have sugar, go for the 86% cacao, otherwise the 100%. And have it made with water, not milk. The price is only slightly higher than hot chocolate in any number of regular cafes in the area., but the taste is far superior. The museum itself is interesting and we found the staff very helpful in explaining how we need to process our own cacao.
