First of all, reserving this place was somewhat of a nightmare! I gave them my Bank of America debit card and had to jump through hoops to secure the reservation, including forwarding copies of bank receipts showing that I had paid cash at a local bank for half the cost of the reservation!! That should have been my first clue.||||Other reviews raved about the restaurant and the kitchen facilities available to all guests. Those reviews must be quite old because the restaurant has been closed for quite some time and the kitchen facilities are also closed. ||||Other reviews also raved about how wonderful the owners were. What owners??? Never saw them nor heard anything about them. Only a team of rag-tag young kids running he place.||||It was cold when we arrived in San Cristobal after a long day of travel and we looked forward to a hot shower and a good nights rest. There was a sign in he shower advising to let the water run for 5 minutes to get hot water. After 5+ minutes the water was still cold in both the shower and he sink. We complained to the front desk and a young man came to h room and advised he had fixed it. Not! We complained again and this time a guy came and apologized for the inconvenience and offered to change rooms. We passed on that idea having already unpacked. Next day, there was NO WATER at all! No pressure, no water other than a dribble in the sink, and surely no hat water to be found. After letting the water run for quite some time later on we managed to each get a shower with minimal water pressure and then back to square one. We opted for another hotel even after being promised a discount for the cost of the room.||||The font desk contacted their "accountant" who promised a refund within two days. Just like the water pressure and the hot water, that didn't happen. It took another call to get the refund and have it transferred to my Mexican bank account.||||The room was poorly furnished with a minimalistic outlook on life. If this place wants to get your business it better clean up their act and provide the services offered in their advertisements.||||I can't recommend this...
Read moreAre you kidding me! As a TripAdvisor Top Contributor I am appalled at the reviews this property has. I doubled and tripled checked the address to make sure this was the same place. It is...||||We were in San Cristobal for two days. We came into the hotel and the receptionist was extremely rude when we checked in. We had two separate rooms to which we were amazed at how poorly they were taken care of. The sheets of the bed smelled putrid as if they had not been washed for months. It was a citrus & sweat smell which is not normal. If you see my profile you will see I travel quite a bit.. I have stayed in motels, 2-star hotels, and up to 5-star hotels. This hotel is just dirty. ||||We came across a few insects near the restroom. The towels again smelled very badly. When neither of our parties felt comfortable staying we decided to leave. We came across the lady in the front desk and let her know we were not going to stay anymore. Instead of asking for a reason or being polite and professional about the situation- the first this she screamed was ¨NO REFUNDS¨. This caught us completely off guard since (1) we were not asking for anything and were simply returning the keys, (2) this was just uncalled for. To this day we believe her to be the property owner. ||||All in all, I am amazed people have stayed at this hotel and even liked it. We had a horrible experience and will not be coming back. Perhaps this was an isolated incident, but we left very upset.||||If this review was helpful to...
Read moreSan Cristobal De Las Casas is a lovely, magical place. I traveled there for the first time last year, and stayed at this hotel with my husband. The hotel is small and managed by the owners, a very nice and caring family. The hotel is very fairly priced and is situated in an excellent location, very close to the city centre and one street over from the Andador de Guadalupe, the main road with restaurants, shops, and bars. The rooms are clean and hygienic and they come with free WiFi, both in the rooms and the communal areas.||||The hotel reception are able to help with different excursions around the area, which came in useful as we didn't have to look for a travel agency in the town. The prices offered by the hotel appeared to be the same as are offered by the travel agencies.||||My husband and I had a wonderful holiday and we got to see and experience many amazing places and things. I'm grateful to the staff of the hotel for the attention and care they provided, and hope to return one day to continue exploring...
