Eiki — Restaurant in Guanajuato

I have visited a handful of times and finally I’ve decided, I will not return. They have had multiple chances to earn my patronage but the quality is below average for any restaurant. This can be observed in the preparation of the dishes and the low quality of the fish, sashimi, and sushi rolls. It can be observed in the soy sauce bottles which do not contain the soy sauce that is branded on the labels and taste like over salted black water. The ginger tastes spoiled. I have tried the ramen and seafood soups as well and have been underwhelmed by everything I have sampled there. Not a single thing has stood out to me as above average. In fact, most things leave a lasting memory of being below average. Do not allow the waiters to “up sell” you into the more expensive dishes. The quality and flavor does not improve with the price for the dishes they encourage as special. Do not mistake this for Japanese...

Si bien no es un restaurante 100% tradicional (se agradece una ligera tropicalización como ofrecer salsa de soja con chile), existe un respeto y saber hacer en los platillos típicos japoneses.

El sushi siempre tiene un arroz en el punto exacto, los sashimis (cortes crudos de diversas carnes) son frescos y bien elaborados, la cocina caliente está correctamente aderezada....

Como en cualquier restaurante, en alguna ocasión nos ha tocado que se tarden más de lo normal o que el mesero no sea particularmente simpático, sin embargo pongo 5 estrellas al lugar basado en la mayoría de veces que le he frecuentado.

Su menú es extenso, tienen sopas, entradas, sushi en sus diferentes presentaciones (rollos, conos, sashimis, niguiris) así como otros platillos más familiares para los occidentales: Tepanyakis, yakimeshis y ensaladas, entre otros. Las bebidas incluyen Calpico (una bebida comunmente servida en los restaurantes del estilo), sake caliente, cerveza japonesa, té verde caliente o frío y la variedad normal de refrescos.

Beautiful spacious interior. Attentive service, waiters with masks and visors. Extensive menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Each dish well made and tasty, good portion size and moderately priced. The jar of lemonade was a bit expensive but really delicious. Great location close to the cathedral and the arch.
