TEREZA — Restaurant in Guanajuato

An unforgettable experience, this is one of the worst restaurants I visited while in Leon, Guanajuato. The service was poor, we waited for over an hour waiting to even be noticed WITH a reservation and we were sat under a leaking ceiling on the worst table available. We didn’t receive our food, the most expensive food on the menu, until another hour later which not only gave us food poisoning AND tasted terrible. My family are not picky eaters we had eaten at other restaurants that were local and we had a pleasant experience but this “modern take” on Mexican cuisine was nothing short of a pathetic attempt to be an upscale restaurant. I went there for drinks and was expecting a totally different vibe. The place is a restaurant/bar and the decor is fantastic but I felt like managmebt were trying to please every age group that it led to a total mix up of atmosphere where I don't think managment/proprietors know what exactly they want. People from the age of 14 to 74 were there, from people that were there as a group to people that were looking uncomfortable eating a meal. La experiencia en Tereza podría resumirse como un ejemplo más de la gastronomía leonesa que pretende ser sofisticada sin lograrlo del todo. La comida es medianamente aceptable: cumple, pero está lejos de ofrecer un festín de sabores. Nada memorable, pero tampoco desastroso.

El mayor desencanto vino con las bebidas. Pedí un Negroni estilo Tereza, y lo que recibí fue básicamente un “boone’s de manzana con hielo”, eso sí, a casi $200 pesos por copa. Una reinterpretación cara y desafortunada de un clásico.

El servicio se mantiene en la línea de lo que uno ya espera en estos lugares: te hacen el favor de tomar la orden, traer los platillos y medio recoger la vajilla usada. Si te preguntan si deseas algo más, considéralo una cortesía. Eso sí, el mesero no olvida recordarte la “propina sugerida” del 15 %, aclarando con toda solemnidad que no está incluida en la cuenta, pero que sería un gesto de “buena fe” añadirla. Extorsión disfrazada de amabilidad.

Quizá por eso Regina (el antiguo restaurante) desapareció misteriosamente, dejando su lugar a este nuevo intento bajo el nombre de Tereza, que ya parece destinado a un futuro similar.

Lamentablemente, su destino parece ya sellado. En el panorama gastronómico de León, donde la excelencia es efímera, Tereza ya tiene una lápida con su epitafio escrito: "Aquí yace un restaurante más del montón."

Valoración final: 1/10 — Solo recomendable para quienes busquen confirmar que, efectivamente, no todos los lugares nuevos...
