We went on a recommendation of locals David & Donna. A small but well oiled little ‘Taste of Italy’ restaurant. It was packed but our waiter Sammy was at our service and pronto. Chefs Thea and Ricardo knock it out of the park with fresh made pasta, Alfredo, Lasagna and an egg plant Parma to die for oh and the mussels muy bueno! We finished with a velvety panna cotta and two large shots of 43 and sailed home. Be sure to put this on your radar when in Zihuatanejo- reservations a must and tell them the Phantom Gourmet sent you😎 PS: 4/6 We went back before we left Chef’s Thea Romanian & Riccardo Dal Santo are both from Padua, Italy. And they really do cook from the heart ~ The restaurant was named after as her nickname a name meaning monkey in Italian, hence the stylized logo ~be sure to put this one on your restaurant radar while visiting Zihua/Ixtapa🇲🇽

We are in debate which lasagna was better, here at Shimia, or the one we had in Venice a few months back!! I said here, my wife thinks Italy was a little better... what?...in Mexico? Yes the food is that good, don't miss it. Meatballs, fantastic! Yup, great Italian food in Mex, we loved it, don't miss a happy hour warm up at Brenda's next door, they were fantastic too!

Incredible meal.. Staff and owners are amazing... So welcoming, kind and attentive... The meatball appetizer, mussels appetizer, linguine with clams and daily mahi-mahi fish special were incredible. Everything was so authentic, homemade pasta, everything was cooked perfectly and clearly made with so much passion and love. It must do when in zihua!!!

Legit amazing. We were in Zihua for 2 weeks and super regret waiting nearly 8 days to come here. The food is soooo good. Fresh pasta cooked properly with a delicious sauces. We planned our orders and left a few things to try for the next time we were planning to come back a few days later. Doblé mantequilla?? Sí, por favor. Owners are super nice Italians from Padua that know how to cook. Not only was the pasta delicious, but the robalo was cooked PERFECTLY. Super moist (and I was having consistent issues with fish being overcooked elsewhere). This is a tiny spot with a few tables. Make a reservation and visit early in your trip, because you’ll...

I was so excited to try Shiimia, I made a reservation for 4 on Wednesday for Saturday at 7. Showed up right at 7 to be given a small table in the corner with terrible chairs. I said we couldn’t sit on the chairs, 4 adults on tiny stools… we were told too bad. Felt totally devalued as a person and my care to reserve a table for us and our friends really was of no importance at all to what I assume was the owner. I wouldn’t try to reserve at Shimia again, too many other restaurants in Zihua that would treat me with more respect than I was treated tonight. I wouldn’t even give it 1 star but I had to in order...
