Panaderia Scandinavia — Restaurant in Jalisco

We've been regular customers since the bakery very first opened in their location on the south side of the Carretera a little west of Juarez in Ajijic. Today though, will be our last as clients, unless someone, with the authority to do so, begins immediate enforcement of food handling requirements for the staff. Today at 1:30p.m. I ordered two baguettes and a loaf of Varmland (sliced). The young woman who served me at the cash register reached for the Varmland loaf with tongs but, just before she placed the loaf on the slicer she coughed into her hand and used the same ungloved hands (into which she had just coughed) to place the loaf on the slicer. While that loaf was being sliced she returned to the front of the store and again used only her right ungloved hand to remove the baguette from the display basket. I told her that I would not accept the bread. She had no idea what I was talking about. The only other two service staff, both women, paid absolutely no attention even when I directed my comments to them. I left the store. Covid is currently present in Lakeside communities. I consider this a serious offence! I've sent this same write directly to the Panaderia's web-site and have not received the courtesy...

Panaderia Scandinavia has fantastic bread, great coffee, and a clean comfortable environment. Staff is super friendly. I had the cheese sandwich and bought a loaf of dark bread. The sandwich had cheese, krinkly lettuce, tomato edges, cucumber, delicate sprouts and a dressing that tasted of mustard and mayo. Oh boy, was that a tasty lip smacking treat. I ordered 2 more sandwiches to go. Also I got a bottle of Ginger Brew antioxidant which I brought back to the hotel. If I knew just how spectacular it would be, I would have purchased more. My concierge said this was the best bread in Mexico. The next opportunity I have to go there will be next weekend. ...

Recientemente, visité este lugar mientras esperaba a mi perrita que se quedó en Can&Cats en el veterinario. Siempre me había llamado la atención el lugar aunque se aleja de mi plan de alimentación cetogenica, pero estaba ansiosa y decidí romper mi dieta probando una opción muy nutritiva: un panini de berenjena con col fermentada y provolone. Al principio, el sabor era algo insípido, pero el personal me ofreció un aceite picante con semillas de ajonjolí, calabaza y, si no me equivoco, nueces, lo cual elevó el plato considerablemente.

Acompañé el panini con una cerveza oscura, aunque estaba a temperatura ambiente. No fue muy relevante ya que comía más por ansiedad que por gusto y aún así me agrado bastante. Después, pedí un capuchino y me ofrecieron una variedad de leches, lo cual es un gran punto a su favor. Finalmente, probé un pay de queso que se veía espectacular y realmente lo estaba. La costra no era la típica de galleta, sino una capa de pan suave y delicioso, casi como otro postre dentro del mismo postre.

Un punto negativo fue la presencia de muchas moscas, algo común en esta temporada pero aún así antihigiénico. Sin embargo, la atención fue excelente. El personal fue muy amable, ya iban a cerrar y no sentí ninguna presión, muy atentos en verdad, especialmente la persona que me atendió, quien, al escucharme hablar sobre mi perrita, me aconsejó oler romero para tranquilizarme. Un gesto muy dulce de su parte.

Definitivamente, algún día volveré por el pay y para probar otras opciones del menú. En una visita pasada, hace ya un buen tiempo, probé el panini de jamón serrano, pero no tengo fresco el recuerdo como...
