I wrote this review prior to being contacted by Alex from Tony's.
"I ordered the Mishima Wagyu steak medium rare and I have no idea what was cooked for me. I received a well done, very thin piece of meat for $1500 pesos which can best be described as a great dog treat as it was overcooked, and hard. The corn cut off the cob was thicker than my steak as was my plate. It is a shame because I love Tony's but will never order again. This deserves a FULL refund."
I was told they did indeed mix up my steak, and I was offered a refund of the difference in the steak I ordered and the one I received.
The delivery driver came back to my house and handed me 400 pesos. Alex did offer to take back the wrong steal and cook the right steak to redeliver. I declined a new steak as I had already waited almost an hour and was exhausted from travel.
Then I was contacted on Whatsapp, after 11pm, and was told I presented a photo making the steak look worse than it was.
I rarely take the time to post a review, but this was particularly ridiculous. So, I have posted a second photo of the same steak, and in reality, my plate was truly thicker than the steak I received. I am not a photographer, and have no interest in "tricking" anyone into not going to Tony's, as was suggested by Alex. I happen to think they have the best Wagyu burger in town, and wished I had gotten that tonight instead of going for the steak.
Even as I told Alex I posted the review prior to his offer of a partial refund and that I would edit, I think it's also inappropriate to continuously message a patron so late at night.
Most inappropriate was the additional messages of "everything comes...
Read moreMy wife and I had our 29th anniversary dinner this week at Tony's. We have lived here for 6 years and have eaten there many times before the original owner, Tony, passed away this year. I was totally amazed at how the place has changed for the worse. As always you had your choice of imported USDA beef or regional beef. I chose the New York steak which they didn't have, but the waiter suggested the Ribeye USDA. They used to bring out a large platter with USDA steaks and you would pick the one you like for your meal. They don't do this anymore, so really you don't know what you are getting. This Ribeye was the worse piece of meat I have ever been served, certainly never at Tony's. It would be conservative to say that 75% was fat and grizzle. I asked the waiter if this was really USDA and he assured me it was. They also didn't have menus with prices on them. They had a card with a scanner code if you wanted to know the prices. I had left my phone in the car. The steak was 680 pesos. That's about $35US. They also had no bread and no water at the table. My wife had the breaded shrimp and said it was really delicious. I shared her dinner. It was good. Anyway, I am not saying don't eat there, but do be careful...
Read moreGreat service, maybe the most attentive wait staff we've had.
Chips are a little hard for my liking but the three salsas (green apple salsa, pickled vegetables, and a pico de gallo) were all very good.
Margaritas were large and pretty good.
Nachos were good, but only had refried beans and cheese, if they had in topped it with some of the salsas/vegetables.
Breaded fish was gigantic, really well breaded, very crispy. Side of corn was perfect, as was the bean soup, I'll probably get the bean soup next time I'm here.
Mushroom lettuce wraps were good, very flavorful and filling.
Was pretty unfond of the muzak playing on the radio until Coldplay and Goo Goo Dolls...
