We ordered a parrillada, and it arrived cold. The meat was so dry. This place is really worn down. It does not look like it’s owned to professional boxer Canelo, much less managed to an expectation of being a good restaurant. The Tic Toks and influencer pictures and videos of the place are most definitely setup because it is not what you get nor what you really see. They have waterfalls and a pond for fishes underneath the bridge that leads you in, and the water is filthy and some of the fish unhealthy. The food service was terrible, the waiter was hurried in the beginning then later we were abandoned. Never asked if we wanted more to drink or refresh my coffee, much less sell me another if that was the case.
While waiting for our car, others who had just experienced the restaurant asked us if this is really Canelo’s much advertised restaurant because of how terrible it was.
There is a kids play area, but it was a huge let down, let alone not safe. The playground was small, but that isn’t really it’s problem. Firstly, many restaurants with a kids play area are fenced, Canelo’s was not. The equipment is very worn, looked out of place in contrast to what the rest of the restaurant is. There is a door leading to a water pump room for the huge waterfall that was completely wide open.
I understand that parents should still supervise their children within the play area, but they could do a lot better to up the safety and effectiveness of what a play area should be, a small safe...
Read moreThe only reason I went to the restroom was for the purpose of eating “LECHON” The advertisement shows the pictures of little piglets being roasted by fire. I got there and my wife orders Consomé and she is told they don’t have it. I order Lechón and we get a plate. As soon as I see the meat I realized that what I got served was not Lechón and when I start eating it I get 100 percent sure that it is not lechón so i comment to my wife “This is not Lechón”. She said “Are you gonna tell something to the waiter?” I responded no I will just eat it. When we asked the waiter for our bill he asked was everything alright? So that opened the door to comment about the dish not being a Lechón and he confirmed that it was not a lechón that it is usually a six month old pig that it is raised on the owners own farm that the reason they don’t serve an actual lechón is because the price will be much higher. Obviously if I want to eat Lechón I will be willing to pay for it. False advertisement is not justified for serving people the wrong plate and claiming on their menu that is what they serving. An honest restaurant owner will label it pig cooked by fire rather...
Read moreWe all know the famous Mexican boxer Canelo, and yes, we came here because it's his restaurant. Let’s start with the good things—the place is beautiful, and the live mariachi and norteño groups playing throughout the restaurant were a highlight. I loved the atmosphere so much that I ended up spending more on music than on food! As for the appetizers, they were outstanding—10/10 for the chicharrones with guacamole and the tacos al carbón.
Now for the bad part. We arrived at 9 PM (they close at 11 PM) and ordered drinks while asking our waiter for recommendations. He suggested the lechón and cordero, so we ordered a half-and-half portion. An hour passed, and while we continued ordering drinks, our food never arrived. At 10:30, the waiter came to tell us they were closing soon but that we could still place an order—only to realize we had already ordered! He had forgotten to put it in. When the food finally arrived 15 minutes later, the meat was dry, cold, and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. It was awful.
Unfortunately, the bad experience with the service and food outweighed the good atmosphere. I...
