Visiting Chapala there are many locations where we can stop by for seafood. A cousin brought me to this spot as it was her favorite. I had the fried red snapper, or Huachinago the others at my table had the shrimp with red sauce "a la diabla" which are very spicy. And the other dish was shrimp in a tamarin sauce, a litter sweeter. If you have had the tamarindo drink you know what to expect. The food was prepared very well and the portions were good sized. The red snapper was the largest I had, I usually am able to finish the whole thing, but in this occasion I needed some help.
The tamarind shrimp were spicy and sweet, very similar to a sweet and sour sauce. again the portions were a nice size, steamed veggies and a small ball of rice accompanies all meals.
The place is very large and busy, always a good sign. We sat on the second floor, and had a great view of the lake. They had live music on the weekend we were there, I highly...
Read moreThe staff was very nice, they seated us right off the water so we could enjoy the lake. I will say that they were a bit slow to take our order and bring us things we asked for like sugar for our lemonade. But otherwise they were very pleasant and attentive. The setting/environment was very nice and relaxing, great music and ambiance. The food was good, except that I wasn't too thrilled that they added some kind of "hot sauce" mix to the fish and calamari that we ordered... Not only am I not a fan of it but it made it impossible for the kids to eat the fish, which was basically the plan. We ended up just cutting the parts off that didn't have any of the sauce on it (which wasn't much to be honest) and just made do. We ordered the Mariscos (platter) for 4 people. We had the banana splits for desert and then opted to take the free boat ride after dinner. All in all it was a fantastic experience and would definitely...

The place was empty and unsanitary, we occupied 4 tables and the waiters still couldn't provide good service. Every time a plate would come out, they didn't know who ordered it. They would go around asking every table, very un professional.
The team of waiters were not in sync and lacked proper training. I almost used an old rotten ketchup bottle with mold at my table. Luckily I looked at it first before squeezing. I notified the manager and he looked disturbed at the fact that I noticed. He did not apologize or anything, simply walked away with it.
At the end of my meal, they came to charge me with a calculator, pen and paper. No itemized bill with prices. The plate I ordered (Mariscada) was $360 on the Menu, and he charged it as $400.
This place is a tourist...
