Porter Steakhouse — Restaurant in Jalisco

First off - this place is great! Top floor of a 4 story building. Amazing glass elevator to the top. The women who waited on us were to notch all the way around, they were excellent.

The wine tasting and recommendation was great, we bought a bottle. Perfect salad, perfect wine, perfect dessert and side dish.

Here's the rub. The steak. It was cooked perfectly medium rare. We got the NY strip to share. It was tasty. BUT: if you're going to put the word steakhouse on your front door, I expect more than a supermarket steak with extra gristle on my plate. It was a cheap steak.

I owned a butcher shop for 3 years. I'm a top 7% Google reviewer for steakhouses. I didn't expect amazing steak for sure. I just expected a really good steak.

Here's my thing: charge more and provide a really good steak.

Ambiance and service was amazing, as all the other food and drink as well. I will go back for sure, it's a great place.

But I really wanted a good steak. Next time I'll try this...

I’m staying at the hotel next to this restaurant (where I actually stay quite often since Vallarta is basically my connecting hub every time I fly back and forth from Canada and home). Thought about giving it a shot and it was amazing, Martini was done very well, those 2 little pieces of bread (kind of like a bruschetta) were fantastic and the Rib Eye I got was really something else. I was expecting some good steak but this was just more than that. Cooked perfectly to medium rare, nicely seasoned and the small side dish of mashed potatoes and veggies was a great complement for it. The only thing good about it was the patio was nice. All of our food came out one at a time. Waited approximately 20 between each meal (four of us). So half of us were done before the others even had their food. Steak was undercooked, Diablo sauce was good, until it wasn’t. Half was hot and the other half was so hot it was inedible to the point of almost throwing up.

Will never go back. Terrible. Crazy expensive for how bad...
