Asado del Valle — Restaurant in Mexico City

We pass this restaurant regularly and finally decided to give it a try for a light Sunday lunch. Bad decision! The soups were decent, though not extraordinary, but we had to wait for them quite a long while. Then, as soon as the soups were served, the pizza came out almost immediately. By the time the soups were consumed the arrachera pizza was cold. But even warm it was about the worst pizza I have had anywhere in CDMX. First of all, it was not properly cooked and had very little browning or char of any kind. It was basically a circle of bread dough with cheese and some bits of arrachera tossed on it - no sauce or anything else. It was fairly devoid of flavor. Even a cheap chain like Little Caesar's does a better job than this! To top it off, it was OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive at 475 pesos! This is the biggest rip-off I have ever had in my five years in this city. Complicating things was the terrible service. It was almost impossible to get our server's attention, and we had to ask four times for the cuenta. It will be a long time, if ever, before we give this place...

UPDATE: 2x1 pizzas has been suspended throughout December, though the menu states it's valid all Tuesdays except on those that are a holiday. Pizza was over cooked on one side, lemonades were too sweet, coffee was tasteless and desserts were rather plain. The waiter was too insistent on us paying in cash, offering free berverages when we had already finished eating -and once he realised our bill was over $2,000 for a party of four!! 🤨 Absolutely overpriced. No idea what happened in the last months (you can read my previous review below), but I'm definitely not going back there in a long while ☹️

Nice place to eat on a special, informal occasion. A bit pricy but empanadas are really good, traditional wood-fire baked pizzas are delicious and salads are well served. Draught beer is also recommended. There are some pet friendly tables outside and light live music at weekends. The service tends to go slower when the place is full but one doesn't usually have to wait long to be seated. Take away is...

Una experiencia muy decepcionante en Asado del Valle.

Llegamos al restaurante a las 2:00 p.m. y recién comenzaron a traer la comida a las 3:30 p.m. fría e incompleta. Nuestro pedido incluía dos sopas, una pizza, lasaña, ravioles, vino, empanadas y dos cortes de carne.

Desde el inicio, todo fue un caos. Cuando a la mesera se le preguntó acerca de los ingredientes de los platillos desconocía la información.

El orden de los platillos fue completamente erróneo: primero trajeron unos ravioles que ni siquiera habíamos pedido, luego las empanadas (que venían con el papel de la comanda pegado), y las sopas llegaron sin cucharas —tuvimos que ir a buscarlas nosotros mismos. La pizza, aunque con buen sabor, llegó fría. El corte de carne también estaba frío, y al pedir que lo calentaran, tardaron tanto que optamos por cancelarlo junto con la lasaña, que nunca llegó.

Durante toda la comida, la mesera desapareció. No se disculpó por los errores, ni se volvió a acercar a la mesa. Afortunadamente, un mesero fue muy amable y se ofreció a darnos un postre de cortesía, aunque declinamos y solo pedimos la cuenta y la pizza para llevar.

La cuenta tardó una hora en llegar, y para colmo, venía con todos los platos cobrados, incluyendo los cancelados. Tuvimos que volver a reclamar y esperar media hora más para que la corrigieran. Al salir, vimos que uno de los cortes de carne que habíamos pedido estaba en las escaleras —como se muestra en la foto.

Finalmente, la mesera trajo la cuenta corregida y, con total cinismo, nos preguntó si la cuenta estaba “cerrada”, es decir, si le dejábamos propina.

Una verdadera lástima que un lugar con potencial tenga un servicio tan desorganizado y falto de atención al cliente. Ojalá puedan mejorar, porque esta experiencia definitivamente fue...
