My husband, aunt and I went to celebrate a birthday and when we arrived the hostess didn’t want to seat us because “they didn’t have electricity or running water” and said they didn’t want us to have a “bad experience”. Well the bad experience had to do with the terrible service and discriminatory behavior…We told the hostess that we understand the water and electricity issue, but still wanted to eat at the restaurant. We saw a table outside and asked to sit there since there weren’t many guests. They said the table was reserved for someone else. Then, they went ahead and seated us and gave us menus. After that, we didn’t see our server or any staff for at least 30 minutes, when my husband sought out the manager to let them know that we had been ignored since our arrival. Once my husband let them know we had been waiting nearly 40 minutes at this point, just to put in our order and get coffee, drinks etc, the manager found us a server and finally gave us a little attention. Again, there was maybe 5 tables with guests so it is not that they were too busy. After we had been at the restaurant for about 90 minutes, they seated a white couple who had just finished running in Chapultepec (they were wearing running clothes and were sweaty) at the table we wanted to sit at outside. And magically, they did not need to wait 40 minutes for coffee, or to put in an order. Did that couple have a prior reservation? Who knows, but it appeared as though they did not want my brown husband and aunt sitting outside in front of the restaurant, and they probably did not realize that we were foreigners until my husband found the manager. Is this how they treat brown Mexicans because it is certainly what it felt like and as soon as they realized my husband was in fact a gringo, they changed their tune. Was it racist or was it coincidence, I don’t know but I can guarantee that we will not return for their VERY basic brunch, especially knowing that there is a much nicer restaurant a block away at the Lago Algo (where they treated us very well that...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Bistro Chapultepec Mexico City on my recent vacation, and I must say that it was a great experience. The decor was beautiful and tranquil, with a perfect blend of traditional Mexican style and modern touches. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed, yet also popular with locals.
The menu had something for everyone, from classic Mexican dishes to more contemporary cuisine. We sampled several items, including the pollo en mole verde (green chicken mole) which was delicious! The other dishes we tried were the tacos al pastor (pork tacos) and guacamole. Both were packed with flavor and very satisfying.
The service was excellent too - our server was friendly, helpful and responsive to our needs. He also provided valuable advice regarding local attractions and places to visit during our stay in Mexico City.
Overall, Bistro Chapultepec Mexico City is an ideal spot for diners who value quality food in a peaceful setting without sacrificing the ambiance of a traditional Mexican eatery. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in the captivating city of...
Read moreBeautiful placce, located near to the lake, very good service, it was really great, they were really nice and very polite. But we were really very disappointed for their kitchen, the worst food ever tried. At first we ordered half chicken and beef filet, after about half hour they brought our food and the chicken was burned and it was looking very black I can't understand why they brought on the table it, and the beef filet was smelling burned but was not burned but grilled in the grill that I think they never cleaning. We asked the waiter to change the chicken because it was very bad burned and he apology and took it back. We ordered other beef filet and it was fraid good but it was smelling very much like burned, it means that it was baked at the same place where the chicken was burned before and they didn't clean the grill. Very disappointed One star is to...
