Chiquitito Café — Restaurant in Mexico City

When it comes to coffee, a picture is worth a thousand words. Easy to spot when a place makes good coffee. Only been to this specific Chiquitito location over 6-7 times in the last 4 weeks. The first time during a long weekend and my guess the usual staff wasn’t making coffee because it wasn’t good. It wasn’t press right and milk wasn’t definitely steamed correctly. Gave it another shot a week later during a normal weekday and coffee was amazing - silky and smooth texture with a strong coffee bean flavor. Sometimes there are settle differences, which is expected due to different baristas making the coffee but very good overall.

This is my second time in this Chiquitito café in this week, but not my first time in a Chiquitito Café. Surprisingly is the first time I asked for a pour over. Two days ago Ai had a Jiribilla with a yellow stripe and it was great, this time I got Jiribilla and was good as well. What really surprised me was how nice and good was the service from Tiare, Alexis. And also the prices por specialty coffee. Lately I have been paying from $70 to $85 MXN which feels absurd in CDMX and here I got charged $65 so I am surely keep coming to Chiquititos cafes. And the other beautiful thing is that they served it to me which a glass of water to the side as I expect it from specialty...

Fue una experiencia que nos dejó mucho a desear… y un poco revuelto el estómago. Desde que llegamos se nota que es un espacio pequeño (chiquitito). Podemos platicar del diseño, pero lo que hace que pierda todo el gusto es el servicio. Desde que pides, al momento de pagar te piden propina (como pides propina si aún no recibes el alimento, más si solo es para llevar, que ojo, tiene COSTO ADICIONAL pedirlo para llevar), y el servicio, bueno, no lo calificaría precisamente como uno de calidad. Al momento de preguntar por la preparación de bebidas, la chica en caja no nos pudo explicar más allá de “el capuchino no se espumea tanto”, no sabíamos de cantidades o cómo se preparaba, aún así decidimos confiar. Al recibir la bebida, tomamos la decision de no volver. La bebida en sí no es precisamente barata, y te cobran por lo que sea (cambio de leche o para llevar), aun con eso, esperas una bebida que valga un poco el costo, lo cual no fue así. Las bebidas si bien fueron con leche de soya, estaban mal preparadas, el café no sabía y la leche estaba tan caliente y mal espumeada que se cortó, por lo que la leche ya no sabía del todo bien, por el lado del café, no es un buen café (sabía literalmente igual a una bebida pedida en Starbucks pero más cara y en un lugar menos ameno). Al final la bebida me hizo daño y terminé por desecharla… Definitivamente...
