El Ilusionista Café — Restaurant in Mexico City

I like the space and the coffee was solid, but I won't come back. Immediately after I ordered, the staff demanded that I go wash my hands. I thought that's pretty ridiculous, but fine. I didn't feel like causing a problem. Who tells their customers they have to wash their hands before sitting down? Pretty bad. The most absurd aspect was that after paying in cash, I got my change back in bills and they were soaking wet. I asked what it was and they said disinfectant. They soaked my change in disinfectant before handing it to me. Absolutely ridiculous. Mask requirement for the 5 seconds I'm not seated? Ok. The rest is painfully stupid.

Also some guy with all his work stuff spread out having a loud, hour long conversation on his laptop. So it attracts those types. If you just want a nice, normal experience,...

I came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon at 2PM. There aren't a lot of choices on the menu mostly coffee drinks and sandwiches. The sandwich prices range from $90 pesos to $109 pesos and the ingredients they use are good in quality but don't expect to be satiated. Expect your meal here to be more like a snack and for your main purpose to be to have some coffee.

Espresso americano con la mitad de agua muy aguado y sin cuerpo, ya imagino el americano normal El encargado o dueño (pelo corto, arete) llamándole la atención en voz fuerte a la mesera frente a todos los clientes Llegó un extranjero a pedir un pan dulce y el mismo encargado le dijo a la mesera “dale el de hasta enfrente” (los frescos son los de atrás) Pedí un sándwich de tres quesos. El pan es de masa madre muy bueno, los tres quesos no los vi, apenas parece una pasta de queso, el pesto le da muy buen sabor al pan con el kale rostizado, los jitomates cherry estaban aguados y pasados, encima del sándwich espolvorean un poco de queso tipo parmesano. Salsa tipo matcha muy buena. Te dan una muestra pero muy buena. (Dejé la mitad del sándwich y no me acabé el café) Este lugar está bien puesto, bajo un ambiente amigable y orgánico en un lugar de bastante movimiento, pero solo le veo buen futuro si cuidan la calidad y cantidad de los alimentos. El servicio de mi mesera fue excelente a pesar de que el lugar estaba lleno y ella es la única que atiende las mesas. El encargado / dueño todo el tiempo en el celular atrás de la barra y al verme intentar pedir la cuenta a la mesera un par de veces, ni siquiera se acercó o me hizo señas de atención.
