I was a little hesitant at first as I have never stayed in a hostel before but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The hostel is not only aesthetically pleasing but functional. The stairs leading to the rooms can be a little bit of a challenge but you do get use to it. I stayed in the all female dorm room and I found the beds to be spacious and really comfortable. I appreciated the safety box with lock and the mini fan mounted to the wall of my bunk. After a long day of exploring it was nice to come back to and use at night as there is absolutely no AC in rooms or anywhere else in the hostel. However everywhere else seemed to stay cool. There are two showers and toilets in the room. So no one is fighting over getting ready or waiting to use the toilets. Everyone was respectful of each others space and kept the place tidy. Lockers were big enough to hold my carry on, weekender bag and stuffed tote. Make sure to bring your own lock pad. I have no complaints I was extremely satisfied. From front desk to housekeeping to maintenance, staff were absolute gems. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and engaging. The hostel attracts I would say more of an older crowd (25+) / digital nomads - it’s not really a party hostel if you’re looking for that. Saying that, there are a ton of activities and tours you can join and other opportunities to meet and hang/socialize with people around the hostel. There is a WhatsApp group chat you are invited to which was a great way to make plans with other travellers. My solo trip didn’t feel so solo! Location was great. It was adjacent to a busy road so traffic can be heard from time to time but that didn’t bother me. Within walkable distance to convenience stores, cafes, restaurants. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe. There is staff at the front desk 24/7 should anything come up. Contact information for any urgent cares, clinics, pharmacies are readily available if needed. They come prepared! I had the best time and will definitely return when I am back in CDMX. Thank you for the wonderful experience! I don’t know if any other Hostel...
Read moreThe hostel is a very beautiful and calm space and there is clear attention to detail, with almost everything being clean and in good working order. One of the reception staff, Janet, was incredibly friendly and helpful, an all-round wonderful lady. Breakfast consists of toast, butter, jam, yoghurt, granola and fresh fruit usually papaya and melon. Breakfast was of good quality although the amount of food laid out was quite small, so you’d often wait for it to be replenished which seems easily avoidable. You also had to wash your own dishes after breakfast which I understand but I think is good to mention in a review. The dorms are very well designed, with a light, socket, safe, blinds, etc although I found the socket frustratingly ‘loose’ with my plug falling out with minor force. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve had of all my 3 hostels in CDMX (casa pepe and apapacho). In my 8-bed dorm, Fermin, there was only one shower and one toilet (there’s 1 public toilet in the kitchen and no shower block) - I thought this would be a problem but I never ended up waiting for the shower but an interesting design choice nonetheless. The hostel is not so social, there is no bar, no real events, and is more a peaceful place to rest and probably co-work (with great wifi, although the desks which are just dining tables were quite uncomfortable for extended periods). On the first day I arrived at 8am and was denied free breakfast as it’s for the mornings after (understandable but the hospitality would far outweigh the cost IMO). Another negative was that the few activities available were mostly pricey tours - with a market tour costing 1200MXN (??) I’d consider this a sort-of 5-star hostel overall - for me the design, comfort and most importantly location were...
Read moreThe management was terrible. I would NOT recommend staying here. The owner was very bad, asking me to come into a private room and almost bribing me asking me not to write a negative review. I paid for a private room that faced the street and was extremely noisy. The owners had a gathering for tasting mezcal and beer so they were not sober.
In addition, when I asked them to help make my stay better by perhaps moving my room to a different location, I was met with "we are not a 5-star hotel" as a means to shut me down. Let's be clear that other hostels stay in business because of their CUSTOMER service. I don't care if it is a 5 star or not, I paid the most expensive price for a quality experience. It's nothing more than people who really need deliverance from demons, they are very heavy into new age and so the demons there are real. I pray for them that God's mercy will come and be renewed for you...otherwise, it's not a good group of people.
Even Waldo's, McDonalds, and Domino's offer better customer service. It may last for a little bit but if you do not respect those who are keeping your doors open, you have lost everything.
No vibes, just God's mercy.
I won't say don't stay here but I definitely won't return under this management. It was all recorded and saved for a few year's time to be uploaded. Try to take a business course or something, I do believe Stanford and Colombia Graduate School of Business has free videos and lectures on youtube if you cannot afford it. If you don't treat the customer right and are most indulgent in your vices, it will be just that, a...
