Los Canarios Santa Fe — Restaurant in Mexico City

What a delightful restaurant with such excellent pastries and entrees. Recommended.

Merriam-Webster translates enchilar as “to season with chile”, but that does not describe this dish. “Enchilar” means that the tortilla has not just been seasoned, it has been thoroughly infused with chiles and transformed. Thus, tortillas enchiladas. With that chile gravy. But there are also tortillas entomatadas and, as you see here, tortillas enfrijoladas. The dish was named by the restaurant for Pancho Villa. But it contains chicharrones and bistek,might be a tease cause he was vegetarian. These are the carnudo (meaty) style pork rinds, like the cracklins’ in Louisiana.

We love this chain of restaurants and find the Santa Fe location quite convenient when having a day of shopping at the mall. Food is really good finding always the right choice. Service is great and this time I want to recognize Rafa for his commitment and taking care of the guests.

Delicious! I went on a Wedn night. Very empty, but service was great. Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish, so was a little difficult ordering, but still great experience. The octopus, maggots, crickets and ant eggs was delicious! ...
