The aesthetic design of the place is simply astonishing. The decoration, the ambiance and the overall vibe of the place is truly stunning. The service could have been better, but it wasn’t terrible.
Physical aspect: There are different levels to the place. There is a gift shop when you come in. On the same floor there is a yoga studio and another shop where you can buy clothes and other cute goodies. Vinyl discs with classics are also displayed on that floor. Then the downstairs area is divided into different sections. There is this library, feels like you’re in an indie movie the entire time. The floor is clear so you can see the volcanic area. My favorite part of the restaurant was definitely the architecture.
Now the food: we ordered 3 types of tacos which were decent but not the best ones we’ve had. Especially for the price. They don’t sell them by orders of three, they sell them individually. Each one is about $4USD
From all the tacos we ordered, the only one I actually liked was the steak one. I believe I must’ve read the menu wrong, but there was an al pastor pineapple taco that was only made of pineapple, it did not have any meat or pork, which was disappointing because I am all about my protein. It also lacked flavor. I liked that they were purple. That was aesthetic.
I also ordered the chilaquiles which were my favorite. You can build your own chilaquiles and add whichever topping you desire. This was a great idea and the taste was delicious!
I loved the spices that they give you!
We also ordered a couple of beverages. We got coffee (5/5), ginger shots with beets (5/5) and orange and carrot juices (5/5). I was curious about the blue corn horchata so I ordered it as well and it tasted a bit raw, or improperly mixed. I don’t know how to describe it but it wasn’t a huge fan. It was disappointing because I was very excited to try it.
Overall, this is a beautiful place and if you are nearby, definitely check them out. Good is ok, but I probably shouldn’t have ordered tacos. There is a national park nearby and other activities that you can do. Keep in mind you need to ask for permission before going in. Make sure you ask the staff and they...
Read moreBe aware of Mezcal Scam! Our experience was ruined by the poor service and mostly feeling like we were taken advantage of. Upon being seated a cart full of Mezcal bottles was drawn up to our table of six and before even asking if we wanted water, mezcal glassses were being placed on the table and a bottle was grabbed from the cart and mezcal was poured into the glasses. He started with two, and then upon seeing this, the rest of us knew what was happening ,and put our hands out and to stop him from doing the same. I was paying so I didn't want my guests who had taken it to feel uncomfortable. Even before we could an order for appetizer which we had to request, he came back and while our guest was in the middle of conversation with his back to the server, the server proceeded to top off both glasses with Mezcal. He forgot to bring an appetizer. I made sure he knew , no apology and told him to cancel. He had such a bad attitude. I speak Spanish so no translation issue. When we again had to get his attention to order , he got mine wrong, I think purposely. I ordered the fish taco, one. He instead served me the entree of Fish , which was more than double the price. He never came back to check but again trying to pour more Mezcal which my guests then stopped him. Never asked if we wanted dessert. Finally , when I saw the check arrive, I paid almost as much for the Mezcal as the food. I think he saw American tourists and took advantage. He had a bad attitude and I will never return or recommend to anyone. There are great restaurants in Mexico City so you don't need to...
Read moreI am visiting Mexico and my wife’s family took us twice to this place. For for lunch then for dinner on two separate days. The food was fine and is a good place. However the issues we had were yesterday.
We were a party of 7 and had dinner. We ate fine despite that our orders had to be corrected three times . We asked for the check and it came in. We asked for the terminal as we were paying with card, but I had cash as well. We told the clerk who brought the terminal that we will be paying the meal with card only and will give the tip in cash.
Well, this morning that the transaction cleared on the card, we just realized that the clerk, despite telling them that we will be tipping in cash, he went ahead and charged a 15% tip on the card, besides the cash tip we left for the waitress.
The food food and service we got from the staff, was ruined for the person managing the terminal as I only assumed wanted to take advantage of a seven person bill and get himself a generous tip.
The whole experience was ruined by this one person!!!
Be aware when you go here n how the charge you. Avoid paying cash and card and pay with only one type, otherwise they will try to get...
