For the past 25 years, I’ve explored Mexico City as both a vegetarian and a vegan, and during that time, I’ve enjoyed some truly memorable culinary experiences. Mexico City’s incredible diversity is reflected at the dinner table, offering everything from humble, traditional tacos to plant-based dishes in fancy international restaurants.
Recently, while wandering through Narvarte, I discovered Veganiztlan, a tiny gem of a restaurant serving homemade vegan food. Their menu includes tacos, enchiladas, soups, and refreshing drinks like agua fresca and hibiscus lemonade. Claudia and her team ensure you’re served generously, with plenty of fresh veggie toppings. I’ve found myself dining there almost daily! My favorites are the grilled scallions, broccoli, green beans, cucumber with soy sauce, radishes, onions, cilantro, roasted peppers, and three incredible sauces to choose from. While some veggies are available year-round, others depend on the season and market availability.
Although Veganiztlan is relatively new and hasn’t made it onto many people’s radar yet, it’s well worth visiting. The food is flavorful, the service is warm, and the prices are reasonable. Read moreHoly smokes I just got to Mexico City and this is my third vegan restaurant I've been to and wow, it is incredible! I got the Chilaquiles and it was so freaking flavorul and delicious. And the lady that was working there was so friendly. It's my favorite food I've found in a while. Oh and their cheesecake is so good too. , 😁. They also gave me a free sample of their vegan steak on sourdough and I think I might have gone to heaven for a moment. That might have been one of the best things I've ever tried in my entire life! I have lived in 7-8 states in the USA, I've lived in Guatemala, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand and this is definitely one of the best vegan restaurants I have ever discovered. It's like a home cooked meal made with love but also gourmet as if eating at a fancy restaurant and yet it's also affordable. Everybody should try this place! Meat eaters would love it too!!
Ok I'm.adding to my review. I've been here three times now and I think hands down this is by far the best vegan food...
Read moreAfter experiencing much of Mexico City’s vegan scene, and being baffled over the disparity of the reviews, the inconsistency of quality, I finally found my soulful food haven. I would go to Veganiztlan daily and not be disappointed. The chef is an absolute sweetheart, and a master at her craft. She is also incredibly bright. As other places struggle to navigate through unstable economic times, she switched from offering a full menu to a menu of the day. You eat what she serves, and trust me, you’ll be going...
