Holy moly what a disaster of a place. Be warned now, this is a tourist trap. I don’t care about the other reviews from people who look different than me, here’s what my experience was like.
I went in to dine with a family of 5. The restaurant was not super busy, and it was a Monday night.
We were not given a menu, and when asked for one the waiter brought over a hard-to-read hand written menu on a chalk board. It was night time so we all turned our phone flashes on to even see the thing.
The pros: Our drinks came out immediately. The interior atmosphere is nice. That’s it. I wish I had more nice things to say.
The cons: We waited 97 minutes for our food to come out after ordering. 97 minutes. You read that right. The food was atrocious. The meat is not seasoned, I ordered a burger which was finished in two bites, they used the leanest meat possible so it was bland, the potato wedges were not cooked all the way, by the time our food came out we didn’t have a single drink left so we had to ask for additional, and would you believe they charged us for extra soda! After making us wait 97 minutes with our first drink!
My father in law ordered a Margarita which took almost 30 minutes to bring out after a series of apologies because the waiter kept “forgetting”
They do not check in on you at all. Like ever. I sat with an empty soda cup for over 40 minutes. I wasn’t even offered water or any appetizers.
Absolutely do not go to this place if you want to experience Buserias food. This is a tourist trap and nothing short of terrible unseasoned food prepared by folks who have no idea what a fancy restaurant entails. Food quality, prep time, and pricing was all disappointing. I’ve attached a picture of my awful mini burger which cost 200 pesos alone. You can all look at the photo attached and decide if this place is...
Read moreIt's been a month since I was in town and was able to eat here, but I definitely wanted to leave a review.
I particularly enjoyed dining in this restaurant and was able to have both a light evening snack and a full meal in the afternoon a few days later.
I love eating out in Bucerias as there are many great options, but most of them lean in the direction of seafood. That's great but sometimes you want to break.
And you will get a very delicious break when you come here for lunch or dinner. Most everything on their menu has been exposed to smoke and or flame and has been imparted with such delicious flavoring. The menu also has an interesting variety of dishes from other regions of Mexico.
Last but not least, everyone working at the restaurant was very friendly which made for a delightful dining experience.
It's a bit of a walk from the plaza, but well worth it....
Read moreThis place is special. If you love delicious food that is prepared with soul, Maestranza is not to be missed. The most incredible smells from the wood burning cooking fire are what drew me in the first time. After happening to walk by, I ate three meals here in two days. I had the the pulpo and the shrimps (twice) - both cooked over that fire, both the most delicious and memorable preparations I've maybe ever had. A chorizo sandwich on a beautiful crusty roll, with the tastiest roasted potatoes. The house sauces were dreamy and accompanied everything perfectly. The wine list was thoughtful (a lightly chilled Malbec was a delight). Mezcal margarita is perfect. I never knew I needed poblano cheesecake in my life, but now I do. The ambiance is wonderful - casual, comfortable, and great music. I'd give these folks more...
