How often do you encounter a chocolate shop that surprises you with the news that they have chocolate vegan ice cream options? Um, never. Except at Mente Cacao, my new favorite neighborhood shop! The chocolate ice creams were absolute magic. The chocolate orange? It contained actual chunks of candied orange. Ditto on the coconut. In fact, every flavor we tried was amazing. Wow, what a great discovery! We dropped in here on the spur of the moment on a sizzling afternoon and had the best chocolate ice cream we've ever had! Chocolate and orange, chocolate and coconut, even chocolate and mezcal, plus many other varieties. Everything is made on the premises from beans sourced from Tabasco. There's more than ice cream, and if we hadn't discovered this place on our last day in the area, we would have tried them all! We'll be returning for sure on our first day back next year. Beautiful artisan shop selling homemade Icecream, home made chocolates, coffee and drinks. They also have experiences you can book; chocolate making classes, dinners and other things. Everything is made in their commercial kitchen in the back garden. Great experience, warm welcome and good command of English language....
