Best pizza in the bay! If you like wood fired, thin crust that has some nicely charred blisters and dough with a sourdough note this is it. Unique topping choices. Our pork belly pizza was delicious. Appies of fried pannela cheese and wings both very good. Portions are appropriately sized, while wings are only 6 per order they are massive. We were staying at the Occidental Nueva and were looking for a change of pace and palette. In searching all the closer restaurants and their reviews...one place stood out. Toca Madera. Cool place with a great vibe and a woodfire pizza oven that makes some of the best pizza we have had. The shrimp takos were phenomenal and so was their version of bruschetta. Off the beaten path from a tourist perspective. No ambiance outside but it’s lovely inside! Well-appointed and clean. Big screen tv at the bar. Friendly staff. Tasty cocktails and a decent beer selection. The ground sirloin hamburger was quite tasty but the Fettuccine Alfredo was bland… more of a white sauce than an Alfredo sauce.
