El Papalote Taco & Grill Valle — Restaurant in Nuevo León

We've been going here for a couple of years now. This particular location is small and comfortable. The staff is generally very nice, but we have had one or two who just seemed to be having a bad day. Their tacos are quite large and pretty filling. The price is reasonable and a nice atmosphere all-around. The only complaint I would have about El Papalote is that when they have a special, they don't like you sharing your plate. They will literally charge you if you eat off your companions plate. Ridiculous, right? Also, they tend to automatically tack on a 15% gratuity, so you should always be careful and review your ticket. Although admittedly it really depends on the individual server and the manager. Four stars for the meal / fajita and one star for the service as they will force you to leave a tip! Plus the price in the English menu is higher than in the Spanish menu lol. Our waiter insisted on us giving him a tip and he even cancelled our credit card transaction for leaving 0% tip lol. We were confused as we thought that tipping was not mandatory in Mexico as opposed to the U.S. We gave him the phone to let him translate the reason that we must leave a tip. He typed that if we didn’t leave him a tip, the restaurant would take that tip amount out of his salary! Don’t know if this is true or not. Soy cliente de ésta sucursal desde hace varios años y de hecho los había calificado con 5 estrellas por el servicio bueno que tenían... sin embargo en las últimas 2 visitas ha sido muy malo.

En la penúltima visita nos tocó un muy mal servicio del mesero, poco atento para el Refill, confundía órdenes, olvidaba cosas y se lo comenté a Gerente que aparentemente medio arreglo las cosas.

Sin embargo acabo de retirarme hace escasos 10 minutos de el lugar y hoy fue quizá el peor servicio que haya recibido. Primero los meseros poco atentos a tomar las órdenes, y había solo 4 mesas con clientes, ni si quiera era por exceso de trabajo. Segundo, confundía de nuevo las órdenes, tercero olvidaba de nueva cuenta las cosas que le tenías que pedir... pero lo que ahora si me quedó sorprendido es que la orden de tacos nos llegó con la carne absolutamente fría y los muslos de pollo con sabor a quemado.

Finalmente cuando el "gerente" y lo pongo entre comidas porque por su forma de resolver las cosas parece un mesero mas, la solución fue "recalentar" y obvio, a la vez resecar la carne de los tacos.

Obviamente no pagas por ese tipo de cosas y decidimos pedir la cuenta y retirarnos. Hoy perdieron un cliente de mas de 12 años de ésta sucursal. Quizá no les importe, quizá puedan pensar que tienen mas clientes, pero así poco a poco el servicio es cuando empieza a ahuyentar a su propia clientela, al final yo como consumidor puedo ir a donde yo desee ir, pero los que tenemos algún tipo de negocio entendemos que los clientes son los pilares de nuestras empresas y tenemos que hacer todo lo posible por conservarlos.

Actualización 3 años después... Esta peor el servicio.

Pedimos 3 fish AND chips y totalmente sin sabor y lo peor. No hay gerente!!!!
