Top notch fish and chips. Fish was significantly fresh was not heavily battered. Fries was crispy without the oily residue. Waitress served a small cup of soup which was tasty some kind of a french consommé. Service was friendly and atmosphere was relaxed. Next time I will try the crab meat empanadas.

Tried the crab meat empanada two days after, La Mermeja again delivered its finest cuisine, the empanada dough is like a puff pastry with the moist filling of the crab meat. Shrimp broth was tasty and generous amount of shrimps in the bowl. A refreshing cucumber lime drink to quench and relieve the Huatulco heat. went in to eat march17/23,...we are Canadian, we are lucky, we eat pretty darn good fish and chips just about anywhere up there, especially in the maritimes. The fish and chip MermeJa served were superb, right up there with anything We've ever had !!! and that is saying a lot. We really wanted to try this place due to all the good reviews. The food was good, compliments to the kitchen. Also the place is nice and clean which is a plis. The service was unorganized and unattentive. We waited over 15min. for our drinks (beerd) and over 1 hour for our food. Be aware that the clientele is 99% Canadien accordingly is the food / service. If you ale looking for a Mexican experience you won't find it...
