Jose was a wonderful host and the food was delicious. He mentioned the tlayuda pizza which is a unique take on the tlayuda, which is made with layers of quesillo and hierba santa leaves. I highly recommend it - maybe the name sounds a little cliche but it's really delicious and filling and great to share with 2-3 people. The ingredients were really fresh, the food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere with the terraza and overlooking the city was amazing. The place has the perfect amount of lighting for nighttime so it's a great place for a romantic date and they follow all the guidelines for tables apart and physical distancing and hand sanitizing. The mezcal is incredible and their prices are unbeatable for the ambience and service. We are excited to go there for breakfast and try the coffee as well. You get a fresh breeze of air and even if it rains the patio is covered. If you catch Jose there be sure to chat him up, he has great stories to share and it's hard to miss his passion for food and service....
Read moreThe worst food I had in Oaxaca. 2 of us ordered the beef barbacoa tacos. Couldn’t even eat them. The “snack tacos” consisted of 2 cecina , 2 chorizo and 2 tasago. They were okay my friend said but the tasago meat was grey in color. Would not go back.
Edited to add * I never said I didn’t want to pay. Someone in my party asked if we would be charged for the dish, being that I only took 2 few bites. When we were told we’d pay half, we paid it without a complaint. I just wanted to leave and go get something else to eat.
To owner * My issue was that the sauce was NOT good and then to be told it was just prepared differently ( With guajillos.) I’ve made guajillo sauce many, many times. It never tasted as such. Perhaps if it was fried after blending and adding some consommé, it would have better flavor.
I feel that those in my party should also leave a review of their dining experience. Don’t you think...
Read moreWe tried many establishments while in Oaxaca and this was definitely the worst. I should have known better when I saw the menu and the wide variety of food that was offered. From Tabouli, to tacos, to piazza & pasta, as well as crepes. Doing way too much. Perhaps their other dishes are better. But the 4 items our party ordered were subpar. Don’t know how they have higher ratings than far superior restaurants in the area Yes, you pay a bit more than what you’ll pay at this place but you get what you pay for. We ended up going elsewhere and so glad we did. After we didn’t eat our food, we paid the bill and walked about 2 blocks and had a wonderful meal . The only thing that was okay was the rooftop. Save your money and...
