Mar & Wana — Restaurant in Oaxaca

It was very disappointing. I felt like it was a tourist trap. The place is beautiful and very unique, which makes worth to go to have ONE drink ONLY.

My husband and I went for dinner there, we were about to order the burgers but the waitress reccommended some pork pechuga, the chef speciality and the daily special. He told us that it was a typical food from Puerto Escondido, we would not find anywhere else. As someone who loves good food, I decided to give it a try. It was also on the menu that it would be a 45 min wait for the pechuga, which we were happy to wait. We also asked the waitress if that would be enough for both of us, since it was a very expensive meal compared with other things in the menu. He said " yeah, sure, it is a lot of food".

After the very long wait the food came and, for our surprise, it had no meat at all on the pechuga pork. I should have took a photo, it was 80% fat, like just the white fat from the raw pork you buy in the market. I wish I was kidding. It was straight fat, grilled fat, we could not eat it. Even my husband that literally eats everything, he could not eat! I still can't believe they served us that big chunk of fat for 865 pesos!!!!

It was also not enough food for both of us, it came with a side salad and a side potato, which was good, but not enough for both of us. We notice and, ordered another salad and potato right away, imagine it would also take a long time to come.

We waited waited waited and waited, we ordered another drink and kept waiting for our second salad and potato, but it never came. We watched that grill for about a whole hour, waiting for our potato, or the salad that would take 2 minutes to make it, butturned out it wasn't for us. Our waitress never got our order. We stayed in that restaurant for almost 3 hours and we literally left hungry. I was also very very expensive. The drinks are around 7 dollars, which is alright, but that are barelly any alcohol in it. I tried the Green Vibes and My husband tried the viajero. Booth good but weak.

They also told us that the Dj would start at 8pm, but we left the place around 9:30pm and that was no sign of DJ.

Guys last night my friends wallet was stollen, she finally found the wallet and with her were five to six wallets stollen, all of them were emptied and nothing inside, stuff like german id and health insurance cards, the guards just told her please cancel the card online, as if they knew this is a common thing. They check your wallets and bags thoroughly to see if you have any drugs, but every corner they ask if you want cocaine and weed.

Yesterday my other two friends felt that they were being secretly pickpocketed for their phones and wallet. Most people are backpackers and dont have much money and i feel its all organised within so thats why im writing this review. Hope it reaches to them and they tell them to stop pickpocketing so all of us can...

Ah man I was so excited for this place. I read some of the reviews and it sounded promising, but that was short lived. Our server wasn't attentive. We had to go to the bar to order our drinks and then on top of that we could see our burgers were ready and the chef was ringing the bell, but after 10 min we still didn't have our food so we got up and fetched it ourselves. The burger was disappointing as well. It had a bitter aftertaste. We had the portobello burgers. This wasn't a busy night at all. This place has a good atmosphere and could have a lot of potential if they have better service. Really hope it...
