The place is really ugly, we thought we were in the wrong place at first. It doesnt really seem like a restaurant. We were the only ones there even though online they say have you make reservation. We saw the chef arrive right after we got there, as if he only comes when they have a reservation?? Strange. The service is ok, the girl very nice and the food very good. But we waited over an hour for three seafood pasta dishes! I couldnt imagine how long it wouldve taken if there were other customers. Maybe thats why they only reserve one table at a time? It wouldve helped if they served the bread while we waited for the food but they served it right before the food came out. Either way I wont go back to wait over an hour to eat when theres no other customers, even though the food...
Read moreConsistently excellent. This has become one of our absolute favorite restaurants. Everything is superb. It's a small place with steep stairs but they do usually have one table available downstairs. Every dish we've had has been even better than expected. No photos, unfortunately, since we always seem to devour our food before we remember to take picybtures. Highly, highly recommended. It's run by two very nice brothers. Particular favorites are the seafood stew, amaretto shrimp (flambéed just before they serve it), pastas, and honestly everything we've had so far. The tiramisu is not a traditional tiramisu but it's still delicious. They sometimes do run a little low on wine, so you can bring your own...
Read moreWonderful evening at Bistro Progreso de Mar! Food was excellent and the chef and hostess are wonderful people and speak pretty good English. You’ll notice some Canadian flags from previous visitors - fun to see! Dinning area is upstairs and we enjoyed our seafood pasta earlier in the week and going back for our final delicious meal in Progreso. Overall, very enjoyable experience as this is more authentic and enjoyable than the beach front restaurants. Ps. The house white wine is surprisingly good for local wine and tastes more like a well balanced white from Chile or Italy - dry, fairly fully bodied. Cheers and make the visit, it’s a 15min walk up from the...
