After yesterday's great breakfast, today we returned to Chez Julien's for his prix fix lunch or as it is called here in Mexico, comida. La comida includes 3 or 4 courses and is always economical. Chez Julien's, in keeping with Mexican tradition, offers a 3- course comida beginning at 1 pm to about 6 pm for 99 p - about 5.50 USD. And trust me, it is very special. Today we enjoyed a delicate 4-cheese soup topped with a crouton and amaranth sprouts. Next came an Argentine sausage with fingerling potatoes and roasted heirloom tomatoes served with a light sauce and accompanied by French bread and green olives. It put me in the south of France. You can even get a pichet (caraf) of house wine just like in France. Dessert was a refreshing sorbet with a chocolate truffle rolled in nuts. Linen table cloths and napkins, a full bar and first class service - How does it get any better than this? Add homemade waffles with honey and bacon, Croque Madam or Croque Monsieur for breakfast, a fine dinner menu at reasonable prices and you have an extraordinary value, a restaurant to prize right here in the heart of...
Read moreAfter wanting to come here for the longest time I made a last minute reservation and my only regret is not doing it sooner! I was greates at the door and kindly welcomed by the wait staff. I was the first one there for dinner and decided to go with the filet mignon which was exquisite a word that I do not often use and reserve when truly necessary. The house wine was fabulous and a good price for being a French wine. I also had a premium wine which was also French and very tasty. They also had a live guitar player which added to the Friday night mood. Overall excellent quaint restaurant with wonderful staff. This is going on my list of Friday night favorites for dinner. Dare I say the filet mignon was better then any meat I’ve had at Sonora Grill and mind you I would go there on a weekly basis and get their filet. Filet, truffle mash potatoes and grill veggies were magnificent. New...
Read moreAmong the many visits I have made to this unique downtown jewel,, there has not been a single visit to Chez Julien that has not been culinarily excellent. Julien, the owner of the restaurant is an unobtrusive but very present and attentive host who goes out of his way to warmly welcome his guests and to make sure that everyone is satisfied. Chez Julien is one of 2 French restaurants in the Centro Histórico, Querétaro. It is without a doubt one of my favorite places to go in the city. The varied and always excelent 95 peso menu del día including, appetizer, main course and dessert is unquestionably the best lunch deal in town. Don't hesitate to take time to discover this terrific bistro. Breakfast and dinner...
