Cocono — Restaurant in Querétaro

Wonderful Mexican restaurant! We were looking for a restaurant outside of the city center but still wanted a foodie experience. This hit the mark with flying colors!

Beautiful interior design, trendy and stylish. Extensive menu where everything sounded wonderful! The staff was very attentive and excellent, especially Isidoro.

I have several food intolerances and the hostess first inquired when we arrived and noted it in their system. The manager came over to touch base on what I was wanting to order to ensure there was no issues with the ingredients for me. Very nice touch!

Probably the best passion fruit margarita ever and very nice presentation. I had the chile en nogada and it was amazing!

Prices were very reasonable.

He visitado Cocono tres veces y he tenido experiencias muy distintas.

La primera fue para la cena especial del 16 de septiembre. El menú incluía tacos dorados de barbacoa con guacamole, chile en nogada (muy recomendable), cóctel delicioso y postre correcto. El ambiente era familiar, con un mago haciendo trucos en las mesas, lotería (solo para grupos grandes), mariachi sin micrófono que se iba moviendo por zonas, y un DJ con música bastante monótona. Al final encendieron bengalas dentro del local, lo que llenó el espacio de humo. La ventilación no es buena y fue incómodo. Aun así, la comida fue lo mejor de la noche.

En la segunda visita, por el cumpleaños de mi hermana, todo salió muy bien. Comimos otra vez chile en nogada, una cecina muy sabrosa y vino de Querétaro. Todo llegó a tiempo, el servicio fue atento y la experiencia muy grata.

La tercera vez llevamos a familiares del extranjero con ilusión de que conocieran buena comida mexicana. El servicio, como siempre, fue excelente, pero la cocina falló: hamburguesas saladas y mal cocidas, chamorro con más grasa que carne, cebolla echada a perder, y nieve de garambullo servida congelada que intentaron “suavizar” calentándola, lo que solo la derritió. Cancelé ese platillo sin probarlo.

También vale la pena mencionar que el restaurante tiene valet parking, pero no está incluido ni lo opera directamente Cocono. Es obligatorio, solo acepta efectivo y, en una ocasión, el trato del encargado fue poco amable. Esto puede incomodar, sobre todo si no llevas cambio.

A pesar de todo, reconozco que hay platillos que valen la pena. Además del chile en nogada, la crema de camote y las sopas que hemos probado también han sido muy buenas y bien servidas.

En resumen: he tenido una visita muy buena, una excelente y una decepcionante. Regresaría solo por los platillos que ya sé que hacen bien, pero con expectativas moderadas en cuanto a consistencia. El servicio es siempre amable, pero la calidad en cocina puede...

It's a good place to visit but not the best around. You'd better order something you already know you'll enjoy or you might have a bad time. Food is tasty but never extraordinary since they care more for the looks than for the taste. Beware what you order for they have a lot of gourmet recipes that ain't for everyone. Service is above average but the average in Querétaro is really low, at times they might over do it and at times they are not as effective as they intent.
