I was completely satisfied with this restaurant.
The huevos rancheros to go (para llevar) was so perfectly seasoned that I did not even add salsa - and still warm after my 15-minute walk home.
The rice was slightly dry, but not after I mixed it with the beans.
For some reason I don't understand, many Mexican restaurants serve the frijoles at room temperature. I prefer the Mormon in that sometimes ask people to warm them up.
These beans were also still warm when I got home.
The one big room had high ceilings and lots of windows - and was very bright and friendly.
The young man who served me spoke good English. I was tired and wanted to get home and did not attempt to engage him in conversation, so I don't know how deep is English fluency runs. But our brief conversations about the food involved me speaking Spanish and him answering in English.
Lacoste was 140 pesos for a good size helping. This seemed right in line with Akumal restaurant pricing.
I have gotten equally good breakfast egg dishes for 100 pesos in Playa del Carmen, where is it easy to find really good deals on restaurant food. But I'm not aware of any restaurants in Akumal where you can get a better deal.
I did not specifically ask if you can get breakfast specials all day, but I got this desayuno comida at 2:30 in the afternoon.
I live in Akumal now - and I will...
Read moreThe bacon wrapped burritos are loaded with meat and absolutely delicious. The avocado, cheese, beans, and meat all combined for phenomenal flavor,(I did no cebolla/onions) and they accommodated wonderfully. Other family members had the chicken fried tacos, lamb tacos, pork bacon wrapped burrito, mega taco(which may have very well been my favorite food item I have had yet since visiting Mexico) and the least favorite item was the sausage quesadilla but it was still very good, the family member was not expecting the type of sausage which was more like a bologna that we are familiar with in America. But once again, not to be understated that this was overall our best food experience 4 days in and we have tried 3-4 places so far. Keep up the great work! The food is delicious and I highly recommend trying the bacon wrapped burrito of your favorite meat and the mega taco to anybody curious about this place, you will not...
Read moreOne of our favorite places to eat in this area. Excellent food and friendly service. We especially enjoyed the bacon-wrapped burritos, the megataco, and the quesabirria tacos, which don’t appear on the menu but are available upon request. But every single thing we ordered, from regular tacos to nachos, to tacos dorados, and more, was excellent. Free chips and dip. We came back multiple times. The value is good. Not amazing, but much cheaper than other tourist-oriented places. Highly...
