Ate here at 530 on a Monday night. This place should have been packed. Both of our meals could have come out of any upscale restaurant in the States. The place is only 300 meters outside Akumal yet we were the only ones dining. Atmosphere was outside under bungalow, choice of comfortable couches or chairs. Relaxing and inviting. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food: healthy and whole, good carbs with cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, onions mushrooms and some sort of noodles. The cooked veggies were perfect, not wilted and oversteamed and not undercooked. Seasoning phenomenal. Protein: tuna steak and salmon- perfectly seasoned with the salmon cooked to flaky and the tuna just a bit more than pink in the middle. I often cook tuna steak, and very rarely are others better than mine. Well done. Appetizer: I don't believe they were homemade chips, only unhealthy part, but the homemade salsa which I believe were chilli's in olive oil, possibly smoked olive oil- some of the best salsa I've had as well as very simple. Drinks: white wine for the wife and plenty of agua along with a mango smoothie for myself. This was an exceptional meal, you would do yourself and the staff at this place a great honor to visit. Presentation: the meal was pretty, if I didn't think it was silly to take pictures of your food I'd have taken some and posted them. This restaurant is how the rest of the world should be eating, simple, healthy whole foods with just the proper application of heat and spices. ( With the exception of the nacho chips- I guess you have to have something to dip...
Read moreWe ate here at 2pm on a Wednesday , at the conclusion of our tour of the animal rescue facility (5 stars). There was one person working the restaurant- he was the server, bartender and cook. Needless to say, service was painfully slow (1.25+ hours to get our food). We were the only table of 4, and then a bit later another 4-5 showed up.
Unfortunately, the quality of the meal was not worth the wait. Two fish entrees - dry and not fresh. Two chicken quesadillas. Blah.
Guacamole was good. So was the fresh mango juice.
Disappointed. We live here in Akumal and thought we might have found a new gem. Based on the meals we had, we don’t have a...
Read moreHIDDEN GEM!! A windy day of my vacation drove me to this place and i’m so glad it did! A warm and cozy jungle vibe. The best guacamole i’ve had in Akumal so far. Their hummus, calamari and garlic fish were also to die for! Also would highly recommend their home made lemonade. Everything was simply delicious. Also took a walk around to see the cenotes nearby. Would absolutely...
