Just had dinner here, ordered a ceviche, fish soup and a grilled octopus. Place is catchy but the fish is not daily catch at all, which is not acceptable considering that the restaurant is literally in front of the sea, with fishermen sailing every morning. The ceviche wasn’t bad but as I said not fresh, more like from two or three days ago, and the same goes for the fish soup. As per the octopus, it’s famous in this town for its flavor and tenderness, which I can confirm having tried it in another restaurant, but this time here it came already sliced in thin pieces (as nobody would serve it like that if it was fresh), and it was a little like rubber. Again, the taste wasn’t disgusting but not at all in line with the price. Finally, they added a 15% “service” fee to the bill, which wasn’t mentioned in the menu: when we asked about it they said it was just a proposal (but it was included in the total, there was no specification that it was a tip, and in Mexico this is not usual unlike in the US) This felt like a...
Read moreLovely honest people! I stupidly left my $1200 DJI drone behind in this restaurant after I popped in here for a quick bite before driving 3.5 hours home to Playa del Carmen. Once I arrived home I realized my mistake and must admit I doubted I would ever see my valuable and easy to steal drone ever again...

PLEASE... if you read this and you are impressed with the way in which I was treated pop in to see them and enjoy a meal here to help re-pay their efforts. Thanks once again to the team.
The food and drinks were...
Read moreHorrible food and gave the two of us both diarrhea. We are vegetarian so had to order off the menu, the beans were a little smoky, probably burnt, rice was dry on outside, quesadillas w mushroom and peppers had no flavor, and didn't have cheese, probably misunderstood and thought we were vegan. ordered the plantain w ricw and asked for only a little rice and more plantain, but got the opposite, and yes we do speak spanish.I've gotten better quality and cheaper food in smaller towns in mexico....we ate around 7pm, not many places even open, but there are not allot of options in all of rio lagartos to begin with for vegetarian, except pizza and pasta, better just stick w that if you don't eat fish or eggs. Vegans- bring your own food! And I would caution anyone else of eating here since it...
