After asking in about 5 places under the midday sun I was about to give up looking. Then I came across this cleverly decorated restaurant that advertised rooms. It was a wonderful surprise to discover the rooftop with a front side view of the harbor. The sunsets are breathtaking and the owner is very talkative with the typical seaside chill. I truly believe this hotel is the best value in town! They have rooms from $400 pesos and up, food service and lots of seashell art to keep you entertained. ||About a kilometer away at the eastern end of the Malecon there is a nice natural waterhole with magnificent views and wildlife (hummingbirds). Walk 400 mts inland and you can see frogs, iguanas, colorful snakes and lots of fishes. Although many people walk by, if you are patient you can see little animals moving in the water and in the trees. ||Rio Lagartos is in general very laid back and uneventful, food price is pretty much the same everywhere and not big portions. They allowed me to have Chili Dog with me which is always a plus. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. My room always has a little balcony, where I can see the water right across the street and the lighthouse. I love watching the birds and the fishermen come and go.
