Maleconcito Gourmet — Restaurant in Río Lagartos

Listen I don't often do this and I travel the world and Mexico 4 to 5 times a year. This beautiful hotel and restaurant is wayyyyyyy above 5 stars. The service is top shelf and the food?????? Do you really have to ask????????. Wow that's all I can say. Steps away from the water and a close walk to everything. The rooms are super clean. The restaurant. .... I can't stop eating here and the shrimp. Listen if you are here to eat or stay please ask for Sandra, Monica, Jose, Brenda and chefs Cori and Edwin. If you do, anyone of these people will make sure your dreams, will come true. It's time that there is a higher rating then 5 for a stunning place like this. 10 out of 5 stars. No joke. For reference. I spent a week in the Yuum Ha Hotel where this restaurant is located. We fished everyday and came back for lunch and siesta. Dinner was a celebration of seafood and local Mayan dishes. You can sit indoors or outside with a great sea breeze making dining very enjoyable and the views of the cays are wonderful. When it comes to food it just doesn't get any better. During our stay I had the grilled octopus, the lobster, the chicken mole, and the ceviche to name a few. All were world class 5 star creations. The staff was warm, helpful and efficient, the service was top notch. This is one of those restaurants that is a destination in itself. I stayed at the Yuum Ha Hotel and essentially ate three meals per day at Maleconcito for a week. The food and service were consistently absolutely excellent. Each member of the staff, as well as proprietors Raul and Jo were attentive, pleasant, and accommodating. I loved the atmosphere, especially the outdoor seating. The establishment is lively and fun.The indoor space is bright and comfortable if the weather does not cooperate. The drinks are prepared well and reasonably priced as well. I highly recommend Maleconcito without reservation for any meal. The guacamole, chicken mole, and garlic lobster were particularly good.
