We first had dinner at last Mojarrita and were delighted with our experience from the warm welcome to the excellence of the meal (freshness, taste and presentation).
We had read good comments about the tour they offer on the ria and laguna so decided to book a tour for the next morning. What a great idea! Early start with a nice breakfast then our young guide Adrian took us to see the flamingos. Then we went to see crocs and lots of other birds and wildlife (raccoons...). Adrian is very knowledgeable about the whole flora and fauna of his region and we learned a lot with him. He was very responsive. We were very interested in spotting fauna so he took us to good spots while always respecting the necessary distance not to stress the animals. We also did the Maya spa which was fun!
Upon our return, we ordered our lunch again from last Mojarrita and went to check out from our hotel. Our lunch was ready upon our return which was nice because we were on a tight schedule.

Read moreWe had an amazing experience at La Mojarrita. The restaurant was about a block from our hotel. We sat at the terrace that has two amazing murals painted by a local muralist. The service was outstanding. The food ingredients and preparation were fresh. The chef was willing to make a sweet plantain dessert with her personal touch and to explain to us how she arrived to that original recipe as a courtesy of the house for us. I did have a ceviche mixto and my sister had the camarones al mojo de ajo. Both dishes were deliciously prepared. My sister also liked the small fruit salad that came as a side with her dish. The lemonade drink was outstanding we asked no ice and no excessive sugar and was perfectly prepared as we requested it. I am more than happy to recommend this place when you visit...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place to rest, eat, and see the beauty that is Rio Lagartos. My partner and I booked a full morning tour with the owner, Emmanuel, in English. He was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the diverse environment. He really took his time showing us the different birds and explaining the mangrove forests. He then dropped us off at the beach were we had about 2.5 hours to sunbathe (could have been longer if we had wanted). We later had lunch at his restaurant and were in heaven! We had lobster and fish along with sides. I believe it came out to about $25 USD for two people....
