We used to visit this place every time we were in San Carlos, but unfortunately, it has gradually become a spot to avoid.
Our last visit was the final straw. We arrived for dinner, ordered drinks right away, and after 20 minutes, we were still waiting. The waiter finally showed up with the drinks after about 25 minutes, but one was missing. When we mentioned it, he responded with an arrogant attitude, claiming we never ordered it. We tried to brush off his behavior and asked him to bring the missing drink. Before he left, we placed our food order—everyone ordered tacos, something quick and simple.
Twenty minutes later, 45 minutes in total, we were still waiting for the drink. We asked the waiter about it, and he just said, “It’s coming” (it felt like he went to Guaymas to fetch it). After another 10 minutes, he finally brought the drink. When we asked about the food, he again responded arrogantly, saying, “We’re very busy, it’s coming,” even though there were only four tables occupied.
By this point, I asked for the check, but instead, he brought the food—everything was cold, as if it had been sitting for a while. I asked him to heat mine in the microwave for 30 seconds, and he took it back with the same attitude, returning after five minutes. He brought my tacos and the check at the same time, clearly assuming we wouldn’t be ordering anything else.
When it came time to pay, I asked him how much tip he thought he deserved. He sarcastically said, “At least 20%,” which made us all laugh. I explained how disappointed we were with the service and food, and his only excuse was that they were “very busy.” We pointed out that there were only four tables in the whole restaurant. I took the 20% in cash and gave it to the band, who certainly deserved it more than the waiter.
Since that day, my family and our friends’ families have stopped going...
Read moreI had the best veggie omelette of my LIFE here! My wife said the chiles rellenos were the best in town. The salsa is perfection. Drinks are great. Service was impeccable and friendly. The location is perfect and the decore cannot be beat. But I will NEVER BE BACK until they change their policies! This place is pretty high class and high price, but they do CASH ONLY - NO CREDIT CARDS! I understand that it costs businesses perhaps 3% to take credit cards, but what they do not realize is that getting cash in Mexico requires those of us with north of the border bank accounts to pay about that much just to GET CASH, plus the hassle and possible other bank fees. CiBanco likes to add a 5.5% markup in addition to regular ATM fees to draw cash. If I am going out to a nice place, I insist on paying with a credit card. La Calaca, Please: just raise your prices a few pesos and take credit cards and your client count will go way up! Also, beware that many others are stating that a 15% tip is already placed on the bill, meaning I must have given them a 35% tip without realizing it! RIP OFF! Learn from my mistake and check your bill carefully when you get it. I imagine the staff is so friendly because they are the highest paid people in town!

Read moreFirst visit here, won’t be last. Ordered unsweetened iced tea, which, if you visit Mexico often you know that it’s more rare than a 4-leaf clover. Paired it with two tacos which were filled to the tortilla edges of with exquisitely spiced and tender Al Pastor. I would almost say too much meat as my tortillas could only cradle, no wrapping up. The tacos were topped with cilantro, chopped white onions, pineapple and salsa verde. And, freshly squeezed limes are a must!
My partner ordered three Baja style fish tacos. Fish was fried but not oily or greasy fried as some places give ya. They were topped with cabbage, chopped onions and this most amazing spicy creamy sauce. The taco were appropriately zesty per my partner.
This place is worth the visit for the food, but also for the next-level service. Can’t forget the decor either. Make it a date night! Make it a I learned a new Spanish word! Just make it there for...
