La Maria Bistro at Las Palomas — Restaurant in Sonora

We made a reservation at this place during our stay at the hotel. For starters, the place was understaffed, however I let it slide because of the recent pandemic and problems with unemployment. The food is very pretentious and isn't very Mexican at all. My grandmother ordered the new York tacos which were 4 tacos, smaller than Tijuana style tacos, and she could've eaten each one of the tacos individually with one bite. The tortillas were also pink which I suppose was the restaurant attempting to stand out however it was really just pretentious. Small portions were a common pattern with all the food. One of the appetizers was literally just 3 tiny medallions each of cactus and cheese. All the items are overpriced ,small in quantity, and weren't even anything above an 8. Also, considering this is a bistro, you would atleast expect they get something so simple as coffee right, however, the coffee that me and my family were served was lukewarm. The staff is friendly to speak to but un-attentive. I sat at the bar and there didn’t seemed to be an assigned bartender. Also be careful about the drinks. I ordered a Bloody Mary the was on the menu for $5 but then got charged $10. The waiter asked me what vodka I would like but neglected to mention that there’s $5 up charge for anything other than house vodka.
