Mi Fondita — Restaurant in Sonora

Short version: If you pass through Nogales and you're hungry but you don't eat here, you're an idiot.

The Galina Pinta literally made my eyeballs roll back in my head, it was THAT good. The service was amazing; it felt like I was visiting my cousin. The atmosphere reminded me of the kind of places my folks frequented when I was a kid back in the late sixties.

They're busy. You might have to wait a few minutes to get a table. And the food may take a few minutes to get to you. Just soak up the atmosphere. It's well worth the wait.

I have been in Mi Fondita several times over the last several years, and the food is consistently good or even great. Unfortunately I can't say the same thing about the service. It is definitely a hit or miss with the service. It seems like they always have plenty of servers, but they are poorly used or trained. Whenever you see a bunch of servers bunched up on one side of the restaurant, it is possibly not a great sign. I actually love Mi Fondita and would like for the service to get a little better. The food in this place is really good all the time. Give yourself the chance...

Great food but the wait was too long with no where to wait nor any service to text or call when your table is ready. Don't mind the wait and expect it with great food...but, the waiting should also be a pleasurable or at least bearable part of the dining experience. Improve your waiting area and add a call/text service allowing 10-15 minutes for guest to claim their table or lose their place! A nice waiting area with TV or music & WIFI would solve many issues...
