Don’t speak English and don’t be a U.S. citizen and you might like this place and even get to eat here.
I can only rate one star because zero stars was not an option. I came to this restaurant with my girlfriend at noon on a Thursday (they opened at 10am).
As we walked in, no one was there to greet us so we stood around for a little while waiting for someone to tell us where to sit. After about ten minutes we just found a table ourselves and sat down.
Another ten minutes comes by and still no staff has greeted us or even acknowledged us. We entertained ourselves by watching a party on the 2nd floor.
Another five minutes pass and me and my girlfriend were having a conversation (in English) when someone finally noticed us and came to our table. They then informed us that they were supposedly closed, even though there were other people in the restaurant eating and their hours posted on the door said they opened at 10am.
Lesson learned, don’t speak English and don’t be a U.S. citizen and you’ll probably have the experience other people...
Read moreI really don’t understand how people brag about this place so much. My brother ordered the ribeye steak which was about 4 out of 5, but for such an expensive dish, you expect a 5 out of 5. My shrimp with bacon was a 3 out of 5, my shrimp didn’t tasted that fresh, my veggies were pretty good, but my rice was bland. My moms camarones bacadehuachi was average. The pasta was pretty tasty, but again, the shrimp wasn’t that fresh. Overall, I paid about $130 for 5 people. They do charge for refills. My brother said he wanted carne asada tacos, but the waiter said they didn’t have any, that they had ribeye. I didn’t knew he ordered something so pricey until the bill came. I think the waiter should of recommended something more economical like the molcajete. The restaurant was clean and the servers were very attentive, but I’m done with restaurants...
Read moreMy wife and I loved eating dinner at El Marcos. The custom made salsa is excellent. We both ordered salmon dishes, but two different ones. Both of our dinners were fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the sauces were amazingly good. Many complex flavors blended perfectly for a delicious dish. For dessert we had the Platanos al Rompope (bananas foster). They artfully prepare it at table side with great care and expertise, caramelized and lightly grilled banana slices, perfectly burnt caramelized sugar, and vanilla ice cream, and then they pour on rum and light it on fire. What a show, and the dish was incredibly delicious. This is by far the best restaurant we have ever experienced in Nogales. To top it off, the final bill was surprisingly...
