A tourist trap!!! Beware.
For those folks that gave it 5 stars reviews, lucky you! Maybe this is a place for seafood more than it is for breakfast. Our breakfast was the worst! I should have thought twice when they have their servers out on the street below like ravens trying to make you go into their restaurant. More than the breakfast we were trying to eat by the ocean with (hopefully) a good meal. Was never the case. Once the order was placed the food didn't take very long at all. But on initial inspection I had a feeling the food would be subpar of what I expected. Two plates. One was an omelet with beans and potatoes. I can't even remember what was in the omelet but to me it was some kind of mystery meat. The cheese was not the type you pour on an omelet either. There are much better cheeses than that. The beans were dry and bland and the potatoes were dry and flavorless. I had the feeling they were yesterday’s potatoes. The only good thing was the flour tortilla. The other plate was a chorizo with a fried egg. The chorizo had an artificial flavor to it. Maybe that was what gave it that color? Don't know. Perhaps the chorizo was a different regional type? Maybe. But they could have done better. Same as the other plate. The beans were on the dry side as with the potatoes which were completely flavorless. The egg and the flour tortilla were about the only good things for this dish. In all I was expecting a better meal. "Americas diner" (I don't want to say the name but you can figure it out) on a bad day serves a better breakfast and their quality hasn't been the best as of late. Lesson learned, avoid eateries in that area. You want some great food then go where the local go to.

Read moreThis is my first EVER I give a restaurant a 1 star rating. It was 8p and my favorite place had already closed. Music from club across street was so loud, we couldn't hear the waiter, much less each other. We purposely sat the farthest away but it dud not help. It took a long time 15 min, to get our drinks and were super thirsty from the hot, humid weather. If you need to use the restroom, do not come here. Door was locked for men's bathroom and I saw 4 different men waiting to use restroom in a 30 min period. None got to use the restroom because door was locked. Waiters kept insisting, "someone was using it". I ordered a shrimp cheviche on a tostada, a large campechana a Michelada with 2 XX. The drink came in a broken/cracked mug. The ceviche had 80% watery tomato and almost no shrimp. No flavor either. Tostada was soggy that I could not lift it. The campechana had about 6 pieces of shrimp and was flavorless. Seafood is usually crunchy when it has been stored correctly. This shrimp, octopus was warm and soft and no flavor. I had to add ketchup and hot salsa to tolerate it. My sister and husband had a 2 person fried fish. She told me it was delicious. Will have to order that next time, instead. They took a long time to get our food prepared. (45 minutes). Another table who was sat later than us, got their food first. Irritating. No front parking. We had to park at the farthest parking area and pay a fee.
I am NOT recommending this place In the...
Read moreThis place used to be our go to restaurant. But when we came to Mariscos Malecon in April we noticed a few changes. The tv's weren't on, no wifi and the service was muy lento (slow) and poor. And we were overcharged after waiting 30 minutes to receive the check. Their excuse was that the register was broken. The tv's didn't work either so we couldn't enjoy the game either. We ended up giving them another chance this past Sunday. Same thing slow service but we made sure we weren't being overcharged this time. After we finished eating we ran into one of our favorite server on the Malecon who no longer worked there. He mentioned to us that they have new management and they fired all the previous staff and brought in their own people. That explained the terrible service and the lady who seem to be in charge yelling at the new staff in front of everybody. We will not be coming back and it's sad because it's a nice place and we have been going for years. There are so many more options than Mariscos Malecon. Please...
