ORIGENS - Cocina Mediterranea — Restaurant in Tequisquiapan

Origines is by far the best restaurant in the sleepy "pueblo magico" Tequisquiapan. In fact, it can compete easily with the best restaurants in Mexico City.

The atmosphere is wonderful: the tables are set in a charming and tranquil inside open air patio filled with plants. In unlikely case that the weather is chilly, there are also some tables and a bar inside in the equally charming building.

The flavor and the presentation of the food are just amazing. The extensive menu offers a large selection of Mediterranean influenced dishes, and there are always specials as well (which is very nice when you come back often, as we do). There is an extensive wine list with both Mexican and international wines as well a decent selection of delicious cocktails.

You can buy wines and meat wares to take home at the on-site vinoteca and charcuterie.

The service from the Spanish owner Albert (who speaks excellent English) and the rest of the staff is super attentive and friendly.

Prices are unbelievably reasonable for what you get.

Este lugar es imperdible, la comida es realmente exquisita, la atención es de lo más dedicada y el sitio es agradable y acogedor.

La frescura y calidad de los ingredientes se nota, los sabores están perfectamente balanceados y hacen de cada bocado une experiencia única. Los platillos están pensados para compartirse, por lo que es recomendable pedir varias cosas y disfrutar de los sabores.

El chef Albert personalmente visita cada mesa y comparte un poco sobre la historia del lugar y hace recomendaciones sobre su increíble menú. Te hace sentir en casa y su presencia hace brillar el lugar.

Todo lo que pedimos estuvo delicioso pero lo que más recomendaría es la burrata con jitomates cherry, piñones y avellana (frescura y cremosidad con un toque crocante), los ravioles Víctor (con un sabor a res profundo pero balanceado con la acidez y dulzor del tomate, junto con el suave sabor de los ravioles rellenos de queso y espinaca) y ni decir de los postres, todos son una maravilla, los profiteroles son tamaño bocado, rellenos de fresca crema de vainilla, cubiertos con un ligero toque de chocolate y pedacitos de pistache con un poco de caramelo (es como una explosión de sabor y texturas en la boca), las fresas al vermut que se sirven arriba de una pequeña campechana y se coronan con crema de nata (tan buenas como se imaginan, perfección infinita) y el increíble pastelito de chocolate, suave, no muy dulce ni muy amargo, servido con un espejo de naranja con romero y unas finas tiras de cáscara de naranja confitadas... Ni a cual irle, la verdad, pediría los tres postres porque son realmente perfectos.

El lugar es muy bonito, no hay muchas mesas y ese es parte del encanto, te sientes bien atendido y las vistas al pequeño jardín son muy relajantes. Es un lugar ideal para tener una comida o cena tranquila con la familia, pareja o amigos. La música es también relajante y te permite platicar y disfrutar del momento. We were walking around and accidentaly saw this place. So we decided to stop there.

The place was nice, comfortable. Amazing architecture with stone walls and ambience is fulfill with amazing plants in the garden all over and nice lighting

Food was BEYOOOND exceptional,excellent service.
