This is my review from my own perspective after having experienced some food from a friend recommendation. The waiter (male) pointed the table for the both of us near the window seat. And he went back to the kitchen and the whole staff crew kept talking for abt 15 mins even after we called in and raised hands as a gesture (this even took 5 mins while with the raised hands) without giving us the menu sheets or whatsoever.

I took a dish with beef, potatoes, and a mixture of vegs (forgot the name). Paid $3 for 5 pieces of beef (3.5×4×0.3cm) and a quarter of potatoes cut into normal bite sizes. The dish was too bland almost as if there weren't any seasoning. Wouldn't recommend this dish to everyone. The beer with lychee was great. It was appropriately measured and not much gas leaked. There was a customer with a water bottle waiting for her friends at the table of 6 before she left (took approximately 20 mins). After we moved there to take some photos at that table and not even 5 mins have passed but 3 waiters started walking around here and stared us at like crazy. This was after we paid our bills. I don't know if there's anything important around at that table but hopefully we didn't "break" anything. I can't say anything abt the overall food experience after having tried one, BUT this will be my one-time at this place with the uncomfortable environment the...

My Casual Review of Rio Coffee & Brunch (Yangon)

So I finally checked out Rio Coffee & Brunch in downtown Yangon — it’s hidden away on the 3rd floor along Sule Pagoda Road. Honestly, it’s kind of hard to find (keep an eye out for a tiny chalkboard sign), but once you’re in, it’s super cute. The inside is really well designed, kind of dark and modern, and there’s a balcony with a direct view of Sule Pagoda — perfect if you’re into rooftop vibes or snapping a few photos.

The coffee? Loved it. I tried their matcha latte and a nitro cold brew — both were really good, especially the matcha. You can tell they care about their drinks. I also had a Mexican chicken wrap, which totally hit the spot. The smoothie bowl was solid too, especially if you’re in a healthier mood.

Not everything was amazing — the cheesy fries with sweet sauce were kind of a weird combo, and the risotto tasted more like fried rice. But hey, that’s pretty minor.

Staff were nice, service was decent, though it slowed down a bit when things got busy. Also, if you’re going on a hot day, just know it can get a little warm inside since the kitchen’s open and the A/C isn’t super strong.

Overall, I’d totally go back. Great spot to chill, catch up with friends, or even get some work done. And that view? Definitely a bonus.

I could have given a five-star-rating yet there was a tiny minor dissatisfaction when I was there. The problem was that I got there at around 7 A.M ,in the morning which was the very first start of their opening hours. I was coming back from a trip with a backpack. So i noticed myself that my appearance was quite not that cool . I normally ordered a Cappuccino and a sandwich and that is when I start to deal with dissatisfaction.

Cappuccino took nearly an hour to serve, they have repeatedly apologized for the latency, saying that the equipments had to take time in order to get functioned. Nevertheless, it took nearly an hour for a Cappuccino which in fact is unacceptable. Sometimes action speaks louder than words. I had to pay service charges at the end and that is why I tend to subtract a star.

The next one is food. I ordered a minced beef sandwich toast as they had described in their menu. What I expected is a colorful sandwich with seared fresh, minced beef and some veggies with a quality cheese. Even so, sandwich is not tasty enough. It taste like some snacks that I can get in street food vendors, without any quality ingredients ( according to my opinion) Just not worthy of it.

Apart form that, Coffee was good, the view was astonishing, and customer service was acceptable. A good spot to spend...

Rio Cafe is one of those low-key gems in Yangon where you can enjoy a laid-back meal or coffee in a cozy, modern space. Whether you’re stopping by for brunch, catching up with a friend over coffee, or just needing a quiet spot to work, Rio delivers a consistently pleasant experience. The menu offers a mix of Western and Asian fusion dishes, think pastas, burgers, rice bowls, and all-day breakfast items. Coffee is solid, with quality beans and decent execution whether you go for a flat white or an iced latte. The dessert and pastry selection is also worth checking out, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The interiors are warm and minimalist, with just enough personality to feel inviting. Service is polite, though it can be a little slow during busy times. What we liked: • Cozy, well-designed space perfect for casual hangouts or working • Diverse menu with both comfort food and healthier options • Good coffee and desserts What could be better: • Limited parking • Service can sometimes be inconsistent Overall, Rio Cafe is a great go-to for easy meals and coffee in the city, no frills, but reliably good vibes.
