Read moreLiving in the G Hotel I find myself out every day for meals and entertainment. Though I have been experiencing a number of establishments on a daily basis (morning / noon / night), here in my opinion has the most crowds, best food, fun staff and entertaining chef. It literally is almost full every night with great happy hours and gorgeous crowds (mix of well to do locals, trendy Asian business people, few tourists, and of course the expats as myself). It is not a late night place! Also this is not a backpacker hang out but it does have a welcome all feel with deep alternative music piped through the building. Lunch specials are great, the coffee shop ambiance during the day is tranquil hip leading to many taking up work / meetings on the tables there. The place is almost home like and the patrons tend to chat to each other or with the staff. Some staff are real keepers and add character to the place. I hear many visitors come and chat with staff they got to know. Choices to eat and entertain in Yangon is increasing and I do appreciate the growing options. Yangon came a long ways since my first trip 1997. I am just finding that after 3 weeks in town that this place is a guaranteed experience with a full bar type feel. I cannot compare this to anything else I have experienced in SE Asia so I simply recommend it. I would advise on continued staff training, sharing the music track info, open up to special food requests/ideas, advertise / promote more weekly drinks or off the menu specials, discounts or specials to guests, add room service, more sport or special events on screens, more wine selection , drink tasting session, food and drink pairing events, more social media posts of events and action in kitchen , bar,...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this bar. The setting is nice and they have a pretty good beef burger which was much appreciated. But the pizza that I ordered was simply awful for its price. The mozzarella cheese was impossible to chew or swallow, like soap. And the dough… Its taste was simply bad and on top of that, the texture was so soft that it was only possible to eat it with cutlery. The worst was that they didn’t even have Tabasco for the pizza. They make their “own homemade Tabasco” that they would pour in an old Tabasco bottle. Well, I don’t know about you but I just like the real thing. The bar isn’t cheap at all so they should care a little more about the quality of their dishes. I was also disappointed with the atmosphere. I would say that it wasn’t very warm in there. Some waiters were pretty good and very polite, though. We were served by a young man (I forgot his name), two young girls, Vanisha and Aster (I hope it’s the right spelling). Some others were cold and distant. The bill always includes 10% service but they wouldn’t care much about checking on you or even ask you if you needed anything. I ordered a lot of their RTL cocktail and I had to tell them a few times not to put a huge piece of ice in it. It was a real square iceberg that was almost the size of the glass so you can imagine how much cocktail you get. After a few reminders, I got my cocktails with a proper quantity of ice. The local manager is a nice guy. He seemed to know his job well. Unfortunately, you wouldn't say that about everybody who...
